Hi, making the box as a NAS is very simple. Just make sure that you connected the device to your network and under the same network setting window, please enable Samba function.

Now the player will broadcast the availability of the HDD to your Network and you can see its content.

Help need... Just bought mini3 yesterday. When plug in by HDMI and turn on. Everything was ok, after 10 mins, images start to blur by portion and finally hanged. I cannot use remote and need to unplu from supply. When restart , it stay at logo. What should I do. . I thought it is a simple player without setting.. This morning try again,, can go main menu but same after 10mins images blurs

After morning a one to one exchange, everything is ok now. Tested for 5hrs ....no issue so far.

I brought 2 box on AC Ryan Playon PVR during a IT Show 2 years back and they have been collecting dust at home as the bugs are never ending and don't work as it claims. Packaging looks nice and don't function what is the use.

Don't waste time buy AC Ryan box.

Brought a low end android box at the following IT Show and never have any issue at all and using well till today.

I hate to say to admit this, but i think its quite factual. As long as the box is not a true Android box, users will have limited access to the wide range of streaming apps like QVOD, XBMC.
AC Ryan box has some advantages in terms of file compatibility, NAS capability ... but its very limited in terms of streaming apps. Its not as easy as simply downloading off from Google Play Store.

For those asking for movies & EPL...etc, do note that its not based on AC Ryan box, but more on which apps provide that sort of service.

I'm still looking for the "perfect" box
- powerful chipset for 1080p playability
- pure android OS
- IOS airplay built-in
- HDD storage
- good accurate airmouse w built-in audio jack

Press info on remote control, it shows dts 48khz.(is this correct for dts-hd?) Tried audio setting, hdmi sound to raw or auto..same effect.

Connection:hdmi out(mini3)---->AV amp(hdmi out)---->TV

Pls advise

That's surprising. My play on hd mini 2 can bitstream Dolby truehd and DTS MA without problem

Apologies for the late reply bro - you'll get faster response writing in to our tech mail

We are able to get this to work. Advise that you double check your amp setting for DTS-HD. Audio setting for mini3 set to RAW or Auto is correct.

If you are using a legacy HDMI cable, it can cause issues too. Simple check by swapping another HDMI cable can help to narrow down the possibilities. If still don't work for you, we welcome you to visit us at our service centre and we can do a quick test for you.

It is seriously crap.

The GUI is very laggy and slow.
The subtitle search doesn't work. And even if it manages to find any subtitle file, after you choose it, it doesn't display. I tried like 10 different subtitles files and it is all the same.
I also tried putting in srt file for it and the thing doesn't even detect the file.

The movie jukebox is the worst.
I used the YAMJ for ACRyan to create the index etc.
I open up the movie jukebox app and it doesn't even detect anything.

The youtube XL app doesn't allow you to change the subtitles. It only allows you to on/off it.
It doesn't allow you to change the quality setting also.

Omg, I should have just bought the WDTV instead.
Now I got 1 white elephant in my living room.

I think you can get it change and try again,, a years ago when I bought it also having some issues, after exchange for another set, it is OK until now and pictures quality is quite clear for 1080p...

Thanks but no thanks. I brought it back to the shop and they were kind enough to let me exchange it for the WDTV instead.
I had zero problems with it til today.

I appreciate your kind attention to my problems though. But I just cannot accept a product with so much defects out of the box. Maybe I am suay kena lemon set.

what actually is the difference between HD2 and HD3? Both supports 1GBps Ethernet right?

I was trying to confirm but it seems like my HD2 mini only support 100bt? I see 100,000kbits/s max on screen when I start playing a media file over the ethernet.

the main diff is HD3 uses a faster processor and can support real 3D files like 3D ISO/BD files while HD2 can only support SBS and TAB 3D files.

It seems that Ac Ryan is concentrating more on the Veolo than the HD3 series.

There has been no more firmware update for the Play!on series since March last year.

The latest for the mini3 is Firmware PV73920 v10.1.4.r11255 which was more than 1 year old.

Is Ac Ryan still providing support for the Play!on series in terms of firmware updates and add on features as this series is no longer in your product list?

Further, 4K TVs are already started to permeate into homes.

Is Ac Ryan planning to come out with new product to support 4K for the PlayOn series?
