eh, not trying to promote any school here. I was a Kaplan student from day one I took ACCA and up until I finish my last paper, I was still with Kaplan(with the exception of P3). ACCA is not a subject where students should just blindly follow the school. Rather, they should look at all the schools and decide who are the better lecturers for the subject. I said that because ultimately it is not the school who set the tone of the lecture, but the lecturer itself. The quality of the teaching is not something that can be taught by the school, it all comes down to the individual lecturer's capability.

My friend told me of videos posted on YouTube about student protests in the UK agains LSBF. Just seach LSBF Protests and you can see all the related videos and comments. Some comments are quite disturbing!

Word on the street is that no one has graduated from LSBF in the UK and that the school has a bad rep for unethical business transactions.

I was an ex ACCA student at Kaplan many years back, and I enjoyed my stay there. My wife is also now doing her ACCA at Kaplan, and she said that some really good lecturers are joining the school this July. Once of them is Rhys Johnson, who taught me! He's really good! I know he has been the Education Head for ACCA APAC for many years, so he probably has a lot of insights to the syllabus that can help Kaplan students.

SAA and Kaplan are both platinum tuition providers for ACCA. LSBF has no track record in Singapore, but in the UK, they are also not a platinum provider (maybe because the rumours are true). As an ex-student, I would advise anyone to go with a credible provider. Don't be a victim of those schools that fly-by-night. It will be very disruptive for your studies. One of my friends was a victim of such incident. It was very traumatic for her.

Just my two-cents worth...

It's a bit like the elections isn't it? Everyone supports a different camp. :s13: I just thought it's important to share what I know.

I was just thinking of all the talk about some lecturers leaving Kaplan. Since I’m a soccer fan, I look at it like this (ok, it’s my 5 cents’ worth)-Kaplan is like the ManU of ACCA training (Hello! ManU fans!). I find they are the proven team (since I had great lecturers & time there) plus they are Platinum provider.

Few years ago big names Ronaldo & Tevez also left United. Everyone said United would win nothing. But I still support! United have won the Premier League (almost!) & are in the Champions League final to play Barcelona. & what happened to Tevez & Ronaldo? No Champions League final for them, no league winners medal!

How did United to do it? I keep track & analyse: They developed the talent they already had like Nani, Fabio & Rafael. They let their talent have a chance to flourish. And they brought in great new players - Hernadez &Valencia to strengthen the squad. So I find Kaplan will develop their existing talent & add to the team with new players who are good too like Rhys.
For me, I always want to stick to those with proven track record like Kaplan (my humble opinion that is :))

I think given the long history of Kaplan in Singapore, their operations are sound and unlikely to be the same as what's going on in US. I guess with the regulatory body for private education watching the industry closely, Kaplan will not be a sinking ship.

Wow ..look at the way you said...you are discouraging the people to study at LSBF....You must be fair ...

Of course, Kaplan and SAA is platinum tution provider..the reason is they produce prizewinner ..
LSBF is only Gold awarded tuition provider in London....

Now they plan to open school in Singapore...they hire best lecturer from their competitors...
the reason is they also want to become a platinum tuition provider...so that they can attract more students....

We, student as a consumer will benefit from their competition in term of tuition fees...i warmly welcome many schools(not just LSBF) to open in Singapore to provide ACCA ..

Normally student choose to study ACCA at kaplan or SAA because of the lecturer. Lecturer comes first and follow by the school.

Because of their best teaching method, the students are able to absorb easily ....

I will say attending the class and listening what the lecturers say will not help you pass the exam.....To pass the exam we all need a lot of practice ....

That's why the way LSBF is doing is very interesting....they know they can't not compete the existing players.....if they appoint the lecturers from london to teach in singapore..i am sure they will fail.....so, they try to lure the best local lecturers from their competitors to join them......
(using P3 knowledge "Value Chain Analysis" to apply in this scenario):s13::s13::s13:

btw, exam is coming....Good luck in the exam...

Interesting metaphor but if you ask me it sounds a bit flawed :) I'm a soccer fan myself and the way I see it that the tuition providers are the clubs (Kaplan, SAA, LSBF, etc.), tutors are the coaching staff (Sami, Yvonne, Roy, Domnic, etc.), and the students are the players (me and my friends here) that train hard and play the game.

A club is only as successful as its coaching staff and success is measured by the achievements of its players. Thus, players are looking to train under the best coaches and if your coaching staff left then the players are likely to follow. Look at Jose Mourinho for example, he is successful where ever he goes and every club wishes to have him :)

If you want to take Kaplan, then go for Andy Tan. If you want someone else I recommend FTMS Marty Windle.

For P6, honestly I am bias towards Yvonne. If she is still teaching go for her.. Tommy I got no comment.

i am going to take P3 and P6 next level. Any comment on Andy Tan and Tommy?

Ya loh. I am bias towards Yvonne too. But don't know where she go. Tommy is new to me, don't know whether i can adapt his teaching method or not.
