And I would like to seek for advice; I can't decide which paper should take for Jan intake. It will be better to take F4 and F5 together or F4 and F6?

Hi guys, is it recommended to take ACCA on self-study without going for extra classes? I am graduating with a BSc which is totally unrelated to accounting. Should I take CAT first and transit to ACCA later on?

I would think that you are more than qualified to start on ACCA straight.. but its really up to you. Self study is possible from what many of the people here say. Havent tried it before, but if you go for some teachers who just read from the book... :( you still end up reading textbook by yourself. Lol.

C if you have the discipline to study on your own ;)

if possible go for ACCA straight. CAT is like a diploma level qualification. and by completing ACCA level 1 i think you can get this diploma as well.

Some of the subjects in ACCA are tough without guidance from lecturers... if possible go for classes.

none of your combinations compliment each other so just go based on other factors.

i would go for F4 and F5 together as you will have 1 extra day to study between the papers, but if you don't feel the 1 day is much of a difference then its ok also.. can check it out here: ACCA Qualification June 2013 | ACCA | ACCA Global

u can also see based on your lecturer preference (if any), espescially if they are from different schools. some classes might clash.

Thanks. Still have some more questions. This field is all too new to me.

1. Is it recommended to take F1,F2,F3 together?

2. What are the recommended study hours?

3. CBE or paper-based?

4. Are the study materials and resources included when I sign up for the exams?

I'm graduating soon and really don't have time for part-time ACCA classes. Moreover, I fare better mugging on my own.

TY :)

1) i didn't take F1-F3.. but from what i gather from my friends who took it before, it's pretty simple and basic and im sure u can self study this. most ppl take F1-F3 together as you need to complete this 3 before going to F4 onwards i think. some even take F1-F4 together

2) there's no recommended study hours.. i don't follow such thing also, just put in your effort in each subject should be fine.

3) CBE would be faster if you can clear it. Paper need to wait for sitting.

4) There are no materials given when u sign up for exams. but you can find more than sufficient materials online from the free website opentuition.com, some just study based from here and i know one of such case who graduated already.

Hi guys, I plan to study in Singapore for ACCA course next year, January. I would like to ask which private institution is recommended ( KAPLAN / LSBF )? As I saw from the previous post saying that some of the lecturers from KAPLAN went to LSBF since last year. Hence, should I choose a more established college or college which has more good & experienced lecturers? Or the good lecturer's note are actually easy to get (if the lecturers are from other institutions)?

the lecturers that left kaplan to lsbf are their so called "star" lecturers who has produced many prize winners and achieve good passing rates.. Sami, Roy and Yvonne to name a few.. LSBF is already established in UK and has many schools in other countries, just that they recently just opened a new school in Singapore. Kaplan I'm sure would have good replacements as well though i am not familiar with them.

Lecturer notes depends if you have friends or willing sellers... you can always try asking ard

THank you very much :) so from your advice, any college will do right as long as I put effort to it? Will the choice of a college be a consideration for employer to employ ACCA graduates?

well if you are going for classes, go to those reputable lecturer, it does make a difference like their teaching style, clarity of explanation, willingness to answer student's questions, and quality of their notes. having been through a few lecturers, some have lousy notes, some don't explain clearly- makes you more confused :s22:, some lecturers do not like to stay back and answer student questions after class

so it's good to do your homework on which are the better ones ;)

imo, it won't really matter which college you attend. the cert is more impt

if you ask me... go for the lecturer, always.

Thank you very much for your reply! But I have problems in identify which lecturer is better for the each paper as I am new to it.

Beg your pardon. May I know where do you read out or find out which lecturer is better?

Many thanks!
