I damn frustrated lor!! Just completed ACCA last june assume it is well recognised in sg... so happy... Now What? ACCA slowly becoming toilet paper in sg!!!!!!

I don't really care whether i meet the grace period for CA. I don't need CA. The problem is ACCA will become toilet paper. I wonder if any employer will employ ACCA; maybe for accounting clerk job.

I saved every single cent during/after NS to pay the fees, stay at home study on book-out days, ord still study. Then?! waste so much time, money and effort; like throwing $$ in thrash bin. Now no money to study other things also...

Same thing happened to ACCA in Hong Kong too, I read up the details. Most likely in Sg will copycat one la, same thing will happen NO MRA on la!! A useless ARA!! The ARA details make ACCA look like crap..

I will probably be an accounting clerk for life now, earning $1500/mth until i retire...

Sorry for whining, I just feel damn irritated now...

By bringing ICAEW into the picture, I finally understand why they abandon ACCA and their students....

So basically, they want to tie-up with ICAEW and bring 'higher' quality accountants with a 'proper' degree rather than 'lower' quality ACCA graduates.......

And to make it 'fair' to these ICAEW graduates who studied for a 'proper' degree prior to taking ICAEW, they are withdrawing the progression structure for ACCA.....

SO, looking at things now, I would advice anyone prudent to not sign up for ACCA if you have higher ambitions. It is not worth the time studying and the money 'wasted' if your aim is to be a recognised Chartered Accountant.

Since when ACA(ICAEW) exclusively accept degree grads?

Entry requirement of ACA: icaew.com/en/members/regulations-standards-and-guidance/qualifications/aca-entry-routes

In singapore, no AAT programme, they accept degree holder and ACCA/CIMA students

There is also pathway membership agreement between ACCA members and ICAEW members

Secondly, what so great about degree? I dun understand. Alot ACCA grads also to stop at ACCA. They eventually go on to get degree or master.

Somehow I feel that way in Singapore.

ACCA is a Prof Cert & because it can get CPA Sg to become a Public Accountant which is why it is highly regard to be consider on par with an accounting degree in Singapore accounting industry.

However when ACCA cannot get CA Sg to become a Public Accountant, the market value will drop & I feel that ACCA will only be consider as a Prof Cert or/and Private Diploma in Singapore accounting industry. So I think those ACCA graduate will force to take up Accounting Degree in the very near future to secure a graduate position.

I think there is a time frame to express an interest to be a CPA Sg using ACCA while still clocking their three years of working experiences. You should check out with CPA Sg if you can still express an interest.

I think you need to read the FAQs from ICPAS and that will answer most of you guys questions here.

OBU results!

OBU results are out. Sadly, there will be some who have not passed as the standard seems to have increased yet again.

Some who have not passed might be looking for some personalized mentorship. One of the biggest reasons for failure is that the mentor does not read the full report of the student.

There is a experienced mentor who earned a place on the official ACCA-OBU Mentor List.
He knows the techniques to pass (e.g. referencing techniques) , reads your report and also gives very detailed suggestions on how to improve.

His email address is obu_mentor@yahoo.com

His rates are below those of the schools.

All the best for the latest submission people!

Good news?

ACCA is proud to have been appointed by the Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC) to be the consultant in the development of the Singapore QP launching in June 2013.

For ACCA members and students who have aspirations to obtain additionally the 'Chartered Accountant' of Singapore designation, ACCA has been holding constructive discussions with the authorities on the relevant transitional arrangements.

ACCA will be signing a Letter of Intent with the SAC and the designated entity in April 2013 that will establish an intention to explore a reciprocal membership agreement between ACCA and the designated entity that will administer the Singapore QP.

Watch this space for more details soon!
