Hi Guys, want to seek opinion for P1 and P3 any recommended lecturer?
Is it manageable to clear these 2 papers? I understand both the papers are very theory based.

1) p1 chee hay keong (not sure if he still teaches this subject at LSBF, used to teach p1 at SAA)

or FTMS's martin.

2) p3, either SAA philip woo or FTMS martin.

imo, smaller companies don't recognize the value of ACCA or much less know what it is.. bigger companies tend to value the ACCA qualification but not sure whether they will view it as being equivalent to a local accountancy degree.

3 months close to 4 after receiving the result. Need some advice, No offer for any audit firm. Does that means there is no chance on joining an audit firm? I am 27yo this year already, will age be a factor? Dont really want to miss the chance of the ICPAS plus route to obtain CA if can clock my 3 years experience by 2018.

You can try going to some networking events or career fairs. i got my current job from mid tier firm from the one of the career fairs i went to.


btw, the mass intake for no experience is in September this year for bt, rsm and bdo. perhaps this is the reason you dont get any reply? good luck! hope you do get what you want.

Hi there, i thought we can opt to be practising or non-practising? Cos practising would mean having to sign on documents, which means the pay will be much more than non practising. Just my guess though

Yo, no worries.. 27 is still acceptable unless you already have a family commitment such as kids.

For audit, they will have "mass intake" every year and it is usually conducted 1 year in advance. Thus, i believe that most of the Big4 and mid tier audit companies have already hired and reached the current year intake quota. In addition, it is a off peak period now and with the influx of fresh graduates looking for jobs, it probably makes your job search more challenging at this time.

If your objective is to clock the 3 years experience, then my advice to you is to take up any accounting related jobs with no bonds and start clocking experience while waiting for your desired job..

Yup agree, I think it very much depends on individual. Self-discipline is very important.


I also plan to finish my ACCA all by self study, not sure if it is feasible though. So far finished 4 papers, still manageable.

If you are working FT , why not spend a little bit more cash to attend classes and boost your chance of passing. $ can be earned but not time.

Self study takes up a lot of time while attending classes could help shorten the process. You might want to consider taking more papers by attending classes and get your ACCA as soon as possible/get better grades so you can get higher pay/career progression in your FT job.

Anyway, employers don't really care how you get your ACCA via self study or attending class. They look at the output (results) how long you take and how well you did for the papers which will help you a lot in your future interviews.

Hi there..is there any value of acca if i opt to be a non-practising accountant? Would a person with acca plus finance degree be a plus point or would employers be indifferent to it and would jus assess me as someone with a degree thats all?

you mentioned something below like not signing reports right? i personally feel if you are not interested to sign reports then having acca is like enlarging your current job scope but not much value add.. just more responsibilities haha.. you wouldn't want to go through the hassle of taking acca then end up just doing a normal accountant's job..

for employer, i think they will just categorise you as a degree holder but able to take on more work and responsbilities as compared to others. end of the day, they will find someone else to sign off. i believe in terms of pay wise, the difference will be huge and more career advancement opportunities and juicier roles.

2. Pl + P2 + P3 if pass follow by P4 + P6

In between i should be attempting OBU

I read the movement in lecturers

Notwithstanding the movement which centre LBSF or SAA is more ideal ??

some of the forum mates here have passed certain papers by self studying. however, its for theory based and lower level papers such as f1-f3, f4, f8 and p1. better to invest some money and go to a school where lecturers can explain the concepts to you better.

Hello guys, is going for ACCA advisable? I'm interested to work in Tax in the future. Got diploma in accountancy so exempted F1 - F6 papers. Will be starting F7-F9 if I enroll.
