i have 3 friends who self studied for P7 but failed on the second attempt again. they have since decided to go for the lessons again and all 3 passed on the 3rd attempt. One of them even scored 72 for P7 but was not a prize winner due to his 3rd attempt.

Suggest you to go for classes if you can afford the course fees and able to make it for classes.

Can they tell what's the difference between self study and attend classes?

Hi,

So far have completed F1 - F9 (except F4) by self study with an average score of 85, so I think it is possible to self study without going for classes.

if they cannot, they wouldn't have chosen to go back to school for classes on the 3rd attempt. ;)

if you can make it for the classes and afford it go for it, otherwise its better you have friends taking classes to check what are the changes in syllabus and what are the hot topics that are going to be tested in your seating.

i hope you finish your last / last few papers! good luck! :)

Hi, fellow ACCA members, I just completed my diploma in a/c & Biz not long ago although it's coming to a year already, to continue forward, how long can I take to complete f4 to f9 to reach advance Dip? Fastest... And slowest....

And if I do continue, any good sch to recommend taking part time... I know Ftms, lsbf, SAA... Which is the most affordable? Which is better in terms of comparing lecturers and student satisfaction? I'm just a low life a/c Asst now, almost 1 year of exp coming, still doing partial sets of a/c like the usual AP, AR, BANK RECON, drawing a low salary...

Hello,

You are not a low life accounts assistant. Don't think of it that way. You are still fairly young i suppose.

First of all, you need to understand the structure of the accounting team. If you are in a MNC, it is very rare for one person (unless you are the FM) to be doing the full set of accounting, from bookkeeping (AR/AP/GL/FA/Bank Recon/Financial Reporting) to management reporting (budget, performance management, taxations, treasury, etc). What you are doing now is fairly good, as you are not stuck to one partial set of accounts and gets to see how the sub-ledgers flows to the GL and the bank reconciliation. All these are very basics fundamentals which will be important for the future!

If you are looking to raise up the corporate ladder, experiences and educations are equally important in the Accounting Department.

So, on the education part, i understand you are looking to take on ACCA to enhance your knowledge. ACCA is a professional certification, unlike Degree courses. It is fairly technical and requires hard work to clear the exams. So, please be ready to sacrifice your personal time and be prepared to attend class and mug for the examinations.

The earliest you can clear F4 to F9 (6 papers) is within 6 months. 6 papers, 2 sitting (now with quad-sitting), so 3 exam per sitting is the fastest. However, this requires you to already know the exam syllabus and is very smart or hardworking to clear them. The longest, with the new change in time limit with ACCA exempt all "F" papers from the time limit since Aug 2015, if you can take your own sweet time - 10 year? lol. The norm is taking 3 papers per sitting with classes (6 months), so 1 full year if you pass all your 6 papers.

With regards to school for ACCA, you have listed most of the ACCA providers in Singapore. However, for ACCA, you do not need to stick to one school. Most ACCA students choose the lecturer instead of the school. So, please pick the lecturer that you feel best fit your style of studies. Some lecturers teach very high level stuff and expect you to understand the basics, some lecturers emphasis and teach the basics. [Make effort to read previous posts to find out more].

Jia you and all the best.

Hi guys, will like to know more about acca..
I'm concerned with the expensive annual membership fee.

if let's say if I miss payment or decided not to remain as a member, will I still be able to use the acca certification I completed to look for a job?
