Hi all, wondering if it’s advisable to skip revision classes at LSBF (im not going for the main lessons too) for F1 to F3? I’m self studying these three modules with BPP textbooks and revision kits and taking the exams in Dec. I only had one Financial Accounting module back in poly (so some very basic prior knowledge). So bringing back to the main qn, do you think it’s safe/advisable to skip the revision classes? As i know lsbf lecturers are good

Best to attend the revision classes to clear any doubts that you may have during your self study. If you are confident enough to do without it, go ahead and revise on your own. Up to you really.

Hi was wondering if anyone self studied for p7?

( i self studied and passed p1 and p3. Took lsbf daniel chee classes for f8 and scored above 75.)

Contemplating if i should just use opentuition/lsbf materials to self study. But the passing rate is 30%!

Is there much diffrence in p7 sg and internarional variant? Must i take the sg version if i self study?

If you have any resources(lsbf) to share/sell, please kindly pm me too:)

doesn't exist. i have tried. at best u get fragments of poorly made lecture notes with missing chapters from school students. there simply isn't enough scale for anyone to bother making quality notes for Singapore variant papers. Most things are only verbally covered during face to face lectures.

if u are self studying, may i suggest to take either the UK or global variant. For UK variant, acowtancy has relatively good lecture notes for free.

Hi,

Does anyone know where can i purchase F4 SGP variant text book for self study ?

Ahhhh … I see. Thanks for the advice. Is there any big difference in between the UK and global variant ?

Okie. I got it le. I'm planning to register for F5 for this coming July. But not sure which lecturer is better as I checked on LSBF lecturer is Roy while SAA is Chow Kim Tai. I've seen the previous post some say they don't like Roy teaching style. He is often out of the topic. So any advise on this paper ?

Technically you could self study P7. Its a hybrid of F8 and P2 (with less of the technical elements).

The main hurdle is coping with the case study which makes up 35 marks in qn 1. More important to be able to identify the audit risks quickly. Its not difficult with practice.

The other regular topics are like audit report and opinions. Its very repetitive. The usual FRSs are tested, but not so intensive in terms of technical aspects of the FRS.

Attending a class basically ensures you stick to a regular learning regime which would otherwise be quite hard to enforce. Imagine going to self study after work. Its "painful" for many, though do-able.

The main thing is the technique. To be honest, most tutors in the "big name schools" are able to do this. Its just whose style of teaching you prefer.

I seen students who took P7 for the first time and passed on the first try. There is not much secret to doing well for the paper. Good writing skills, lots of practising and (finally) good time management. You will be surprised at how few could do all three together... under exam conditions.

Finally, all the best for your P7 exams.

PS: Some of the Youtube videos are really good for revision. Steve Whittenbury is my favourite and he is very easy to understand. Watch a few in a week. Make it a habit and some of the lessons do stay in your head.

Welcome. Tax is quite demanding.

For P7, feel free to google for some youtube. Always enjoy the different teaching styles.

Also dont feel that you need to sign up for top lecturer classes. Weigh for yourself your needs and wants. Thats more important. I also heard of students who did F1 to F3 on self study basis. Also have seen a student who did F4 in one mth and passed on the first try. If you already started telling yourself impossible, you have truly set very low targets for yourself. If the goals are too easy to achieve, your bar is surely too low.

Don't give up. Success belongs to those who persevere. To quote Warren Buffet, it takes temperament.

All the best.

Yup thanks! Did you self study for p6 too? I signed for yvonne again becauses i did f6 with her.

I self studied f1-f5, p1 and p3 so far. Studied for a month for each paper.

Left with p6 and p7.
I dont think p6 can be self studied because its acowtancy and opentuition doesnt seem to have sg variant?

Gathering ACCA new starters!

Anyone planning to start self-study for ACCA preparing for Sep / Dec paper for F1-F3? add me at telegram @iAlibaba if you are keen to have a study group :)

Looking to buy Kaplan/BPP study materials for F1-F3 too.

Will it make a lot of difference if I rely on outdated study materials (valid till Sep 2018 edition) from Kaplan / BPP to prepare for Dec 2018 exam?
