ok la, i have been taking 3papers all the while, managable 1. every wk if u go thru the notes of the previous lesson, it is gd enough liao. most papers the lecturers will keep repeating the concept over the 20 lessons so it will be imprint into ur memory and become easier to revise when nearing exam.

i think F4 is consider not so tough and F5, F6 are tougher. so taking 2 tough and 1 not so tough paper, it is ok. but when u reaching F7, F8, F9 then it will be a challenge to take all 3 together. u have to have faith and confident in urself. ask urself y u wanna take acca? if u decided to take, y not chiong and complete faster? with this mentality, i passed F8, F9, P1, P2 part time in 1 seating but the marks 50+ nia

its really up to individual whether u can take the stress anot, if u cant handle the stress now, next time join audit firm also will face stress.

its possible , i took p1 f8 p7 1 seating, all 3 theory papers, self studied, signed up for chee hay keong's revision though, passed all 3.. all 60+ .., his concept all superb. so i guess, u need good lecturers and abit of motivation really... basically, my acca life, i've only took 2lecturer's lessons.. saminathan and chee hay keongs, they've given me 100% passed rates, so, choose ur lecturer properly, it'll be rewarding..

my quandary lie on the fact that why SAA has longer contact hours as compared to ftc.

FTC P1 class: 18 session x 3hrs
SAA P1 class: 17 session x 4hrs

which mean saa has 14hrs extra more as compared to FTC. i think longer hours is important so that lecturer can teach slowly and student can understand easily. The enrollment form for SAA is very blur, I dun understand at all.
If i wish to take
F9 Financial Management by Mr James Kwan
http://www.saa.org.sg/pdf/accamc09pg3.pdf
P1 Professional Accountant by Mr Phillip Woo
http://www.saa.org.sg/pdf/accamc09pg4.pdf
P2 Corporate Reporting by Mr James Kwan
http://www.saa.org.sg/pdf/accamc09pg4.pdf

Total Course Fees is it 1965 SGD
Also i dun understand for P2 Corporate reporting by james kwan, why it was stated 23 sessions but i counted the total lessons in blue, it is only 20 lessons. and when is the tutorial and revision class, why no time table for it?

hmm, to me 3hrs or 3.5hrs or 4hrs no diff to me cos. break may take longer for some lecturer, or delayed by student asking lecturer question during break. also even it stated 3hrs, the lecturer may end later if he still want to finish up the things he want to teach. even it stated 3hrs, lecturer make also ask you come in earlier like 30mins and said will delay for another 15mins etc. lunchbreak maybe >1hr.

u like long long hours can take james kwan one... he can even skip lunch one.

btw. for philip woo P1 it is 17session x 3.5hrs. saa no like ftc day&month timetable.
e.g. philip P1, it is every mon evening, otherwise with special date/time in blue wordings.

for P2 james, u see 8 mar (Sun) 9.30 to 5.30pm & 2 May (Sat) 2 to 10pm both consider 2 lesson in a day, normal 1 lesson is 3 to 4hrs mah.

i think i will stick to FTC... feel that the lessons are too long to facilitate effective studying. i mean i need time to self-study instead of listen purely to lecturing. however i will joined when i reach optional paper.

most of my lecturers told me the perfect marks is not 100, it is 50~ as long as u can complete in the shortest period that's the most important factor. opportunity cost add up to huge amount if u slowly complete. more course fee, exam fee, membership fee and low salary

i stick with FTC all the way, generally i find most of the laojiao FTC lecturers like roy goh, sami, domnic, yvonne goh, not bad. these 4 lecturers can cover almost everything of ACCA liao except law and audit.

F4 - no recommendation
F5 - sami
F6 - yvonne goh or jasmine ang
F7 - sami better than roy goh imo (i took roy for normal class, sami for revision)
F8 - connie
F9 - sami

P1 - domnic over roy goh (he is very fast and used lotta short forms but he is knowledgeable)
P2 - sami
P3 - domnic (again his speed is damn fast. he completed the syllabus in 19 lesson and left last lesson for revision)

P4 - sami
P5 - sami
P6 - jasmine ang (i find her teaching not bad~ not the best thou)
P7 - connie (she is good but again not the best)

generally i find that FTC do not have very outstanding Law, Tax and Audit lecturers but they are good enough for u to pass.

maybe someone from SAA can recommend u better lecturers like chee hay keong, james kwan, goh cher wee, philip woo etc

For SAA, hongge is right. Most of the time I chose SAA coz cheaper and nearer to my house.

The following is purely my opinion so don't flame me pls. For choice of lecturers, its really quite simple.

For any papers taught by Philip Woo, choose HIM!! You won't regret. His tips are damn good. But despite his lesson-cum-funny jokes class, make sure you pay attention. He don't share jokes for no reason. There's a link to what he's teaching. What he emphasize in class are most likely what appears as tips in the last lesson. So if you're the hardworking kind, you can get started mths before the exam.

For any papers taught by Saminathan, choose HIM!!! You won't regret too. Sami's class are much more focused and yet shorter and manageable compared to James class. His tips are also better, I feel.

I remember attending James's 2.4 class both normal course cum revision and I can tell you he totally killed my interest in that paper. Needless to say, I flunked that paper terribly. The next sem I chose Sami and boi~~~ Everything just make so much sense to me.

But then again, it all depends on individual's preference. But be warned that James class are superb long. The latest time that class ends for me last time is 11.30pm. Sami or James, up to you to choose.

For audit classes (lvl 2 or lvl3 pps), choose Chee Hay Keong. I'm attending his P7 class and I like his style of teaching. His style is to teach you how to tackle the question, style of writing and importance of presentation of answers in normal class. So its not just read from the notes kind of lecture. His tips are good too!

On a side note, I suggest to avoid Connie's audit class. Her style is to read word by word from the book that I end up falling asleep every lesson....:( She also dun give tips. So...up to u again.

For tax classes, I really can't suggest any best lecturer yet. SAA used to have this gd female lecturer but she's no longer teaching. :( Currently left Goh Sher Wee (SAA) and Jasmine Ang (FTC) for P6 paper. I attended both, and I felt Jasmine's is slightly better off. But Goh shares tips, Jasmine don't. Not sure whether its becoz of last sem only, my fren said Goh's tips not accurate. So.........there's really no gd choice.
