If I am in your shoes, I will still work in marine industry while taking part time ACCA.

This is because if I cannot get an ACCA (I can forget about being an accountant), at least I still have a working exp in marine industry.

If I can get an ACCA, I can chose to become an accountant with a pay cut or summit my ACCA & see what my management will do with my ACCA (Eg: increase salary or change job scope or promotion).

If I study marine related course, I can forget about being an accountant. On top of that, I do not really needs a marine related course to work in the marine industry (Eg: Elect/Mech degree also can become Marine Engineer).

Hi guys,

i had a question to ask as i am currently a bit lost.

Currently i taking acca and is still have F7 onwards to go on.
Also working in a shipmanagement coy but not related to accounts.
In this line for only 2yrs plus with 2k+ salary and 23 this year..

thinking whether i should continue with acca or change to marine related studies.
i hope to be an accountant but i am afraid i cant complete acca as its getting tougher..moreover i have to experience as i am not working in related industry...

But if i change course of studies then it seems to be a waste to stop at F6.
So if in the end i complete acca then i change to a accounts related job and by then i might have to take a pay cut to change industry..

Anyone kind person can give me some advise?

Erm.. if you want to be on the top of the game.. in business, you will eventually need some financial knowledge.

But if you are not intending to go into accounting line... maybe doing a ACCA will be a overkill... especially if you have a hard time coping and doesn't want to affect your current work.

There are many routes to accounting other than ACCA. Foreign degrees are recognised too... some can be completed in relatively shorter time and based more on course work.

queries

Hi all, I would like to check if I were to go down to the office to register for ACCA, do I have to pay in Pound or they will convert it to $Sing dollar?

Also, take for example, if I were to study ACCA halfway through and got myself an accounting job, can it be considered as the 3 years working experience needed for ACCA or you must first complete all the papers?

thanks for the help!

u can try to complete ur acca till F9 and get the OBU degree. with that check with ur management if u could use the degree to switch job into an accounting role. if they agree, then it would be gd for u. if no, they u have to decide if u wish to continue with the P papers or do u want to find accounting job outside ur company to start clocking experience.

anyone from uol accountancy and finance that continued to acca? can clarify which modules are we exempted from? is hrm included in the exemption if i take that as my elective?

anyone can clarify about the OBU thesis? what kind of bachelor programme is issued along with the thesis? whats the thesis about? do you need any other modules to complete the thesis after the fundamental stage of acca? is your cert going be issued directly from OBU or is it like a distance learning programme in sim? even with a degree in uol a&f i can still apply for that OBU thesis right?

thx :)

with ur UOL degree, u will probably be exempted from F7-F9 for acca, therefore u will not be able to take up OBU as the entry requirement is to pass F7-F9.

You only pay the annual subscription of SGD90 to Singapore ICPAS Office. For the UK subscription and Exam Fees, you got to pay to UK in pounds directly. Either you mail them a money order to you pay thru credit card online. For more details, its better to call ICPAS Exams office directly as they deals with ACCA student matters also.

You can accumulate work experience for ACCA before/during and after ACCA exams as long as you meet their requirements of relevant work experience.

But you need to take note for CPA Singapore, you can only start to accumulate work experience after you grad from your studies.

U be exempted from f1 2 3 5 7 8 9, 4 depends on law variant, If uol law taken is sgp u r exempted if not retake in acca. F6 tax-sgp not exempted. Effectivly after ur a&f uol. Best scenerio 6 modules remaining and worst 7-8 modules remaining. Good luck.

No need. You can take in whatever order.. F1 to F3 as you wish. F1 is the easiest.. F2 and F3 should take more effort..

Anyway, there is also CBE exams for F1 to F3, available on sat. Places available are SAA, FTMS, you got to call to check the available dates. I heard NTUC also offers CBE exam.

What i did was to purchase the BPP F6(SGP) textbooks and revision kit. So i know which tax law is changed that is applicable to the exam.

The lecturers of cos can't reply u if they are a lot of changes... and it is very hard for them to make a good reply. For eg if the consolidation computation in F7 is changed.. you can't expect them to explain it over email.

F7 or P2.. i also wanted to know.. hehe

Query

Hi everyone. I have a query to ask.

As I will be going down to SAA to register for the July intake, I would like to check do we straightaway pay the tuition fee with the registration fee or you just have to pay the registration fee first, than the tuition fee at a later time?

Thank you in advance!

Cheers~

It depends on how he scored, if he scored less than 50 marks then he isn't exempted.
