can anyone recommend lecturer for F9?

Also is it recommended to take F8 + F9 + P1/P2 at one go?

I am working full time as well.

4 papers in one go is always tough, and P2 is a big syllabus. Having said this, both F8 and P1 (I teach both) are more about understanding and application rather than massive amounts to know, so it certainly can be done.

The toughest thing is studying 4 evenings every single week (assuming you are attending classes).

I am running a free P1 evening revision class on Wed 1st December (ie next week) in Singapore near Raffles Place, so why not come along and get a taste for what you are letting yourself in for?

You are more than welcome to attend if you wish - just PM me or email on pmerison@lsbf.org.uk.

All the best

No problem - shame I don't teach the papers you are doing at the moment!

If you know anyone else doing P1 or P7 send them my way :)

I also teach F8 by the way - but have not got time to do a revision session for that one as well this time unfortunately :(

i guess doing F8 and P1 together helps as some topics in P1 are repeats of F8. eg internal controls. But that was 1yr ago, not sure if there are any syllabus changes.

and yes i was working full time when i took my ACCA. Having a related job does help in your studies too.

oh cool.. means P1 is more of audit yeah?

i am exempted from F8.. took it in uni 2 years ago, hopefully i can still remember majority of the syllabus =X

thanks for the prompt reply :)

Jus some suggestion:
Take F1-F3, if u can cope then f4 together also..if not just F1to F3 first.
Then F4, F7 and F9. Because F9 is unrelated to all papers except F2.
Then F6, F8 and F5. Because it is good to have some F7 knowledge prior to F8.

Just my own point of view.. some may prefer other sequence.
Then the rest of the papers...i dun know which sequence is better.

Hi

This strategy makes a lot of sense - especially taking F7 before F8. As well as the benefit for F8, taking F7 "early" helps to avoid the problem with F7 and P2 not being able to be sat at the same sitting.

However, bear in mind that F5 and P1 are also an impossible combination, so I would take F4, F5 and F7, followed by F6, F8 and F9.

Hope this helps.

As an F8 and P1 tutor, I would say that yes there is some audit knowledge on p1, in particular independence/objectivity concepts, audit committees and internal controls. However I would not be thinking of P1 as another audit paper as it is very different to F8 in terms of how it is examined.

Some useful brought forward knowledge, but that is about as far as it goes I'm afraid!

Hmmm - the second person to say yes but can I do a different date.

Well, I could do an alternative in the week of Dec 6th (i.e. first week of the exams) - or could do one after the exams in mid December I suppose.

Would that work for you?

Well, P1 is a really nice (and very predictable) paper. I love teaching it as much as teaching audit (and I lurrrrve teaching audit).

Let me teach you P1 in 2011!!;)

Need advice, what is the difference between F7 SGP & F7 INT? Classes in SAA & Kaplan are for SGP or INT?

Thank you.

6 dec preferred rather than mid dec :)

will try to make it for mid dec should it be held in mid dec instead of the 6th :)

* any comments on my combination of F4 F6 P1? i would like to be mentally prepared for the papers!

Thank you.

INT papers such as F7, P2 etc are based on IFRS. Singapore has not yet fully adopted IFRS, so the SGP variant will have answers based on Singapore FRS rules rather than IFRS.

In reality, Singapore tends to adopt each changed/new IFRS pretty much as it is, so there are not many differences to worry about. This is just as well, because Kaplan and BPP textbooks and revision kits do not seem to exist for SGP F7 - unless this has changed recently. As such, you will probably be given INT books, with your tutor dealing with any SGP differences in the classroom.

The above is based on what I have discovered so far, and it would be helpful if Kaplan and SAA students could add to these comments and correct them if I am wrong!
