my kind of score can only get me into IT and engineering.

i was from info tech before i dropped out, theres no way i can go back to programming.

how about i sign up for CAT and go work after that while taking ACCA part time?

can la if u dun mind low pay + take 5-6years to complete your ACCA. my advice is do ACCA straight for about 2-3years Full-time then go and get an audit job. Don't do it part-time as it will be very long till you complete.

i have thought about that but can i just jump into acca with zero accounting background?

or will the course cover everything?

i dunnoe about how tough it is to cope if u have zero accounting knowledge. Anyway, it will cover most aspect of accounting, from corporate reporting to management accounting to spore taxation to auditing.

I also went to take ACCA without any background. No worry. Level one and two will help you prepare for it.

I am not sure about CAT. Go find out more. IMO, no point go do a diploma for 3 years then go ACCA and start from level one. If CAT is cheaper, and can finish less then 3 years, then y not CAT?

I agree the low pay for CAT. But if your goal is ACCA, I think reaching it faster is better then do other diploma just to earn that bit more and do part time ACCA. Also, CAT will help you get exemption from level 1 (I think). Also, I heard that CAT student end up quite good at calculation and the background at CAT seem to prepare the student for F5, 6, 7. So from wat I see is more +ve then -ve point. Bear in mind. Your goal is ACCA.

If you are worry that you will give up halfway when doing ACCA, and want a safer path, then I would suggest you go ahead with diploma.

I'm currently thinking of enrolling bsc Banking and Finance and ltr to ACCA in the future.

I realise that under ACCA websites that to get paper f8 exempted under bsc Banking and Finance i would have to take the module "auditing" but there's no such module in SIM UOL; There's only one unit titled "auditing and assurance (93)".Are they both the same ?

Paper F8 is listed as exempted on ACCA website under bsc Acounting and Finance if you take the module "auditing and assurance(93)". Is there any difference to the exemption of paper F8 if i were to take "auditing and assurance(93)" under bsc Banking and Finance instead of bsc Accounting and finance ?

if i will u, i think i will not take up the exemption because later on if u choose advanced audit paper in level 3, u may have problem coping. anyway, u are in banking and finance degree, u should take up CFA not ACCA :)

I did consider taking accounting and finance to gain exemption into ACCA but i think with a banking degree and an acca cert will help me keep my career prospective more open ?

when ur in the banking sector.. when u wanna further qualifications, u'll look for something more value added to ur banking job which is either mba or cfa, maybe some hr.

yup, u will get the exemption from F8 bcos i am graduated from SIM uol acc n fin degree last year and i get the exemption from F8. For auditing and assurance ,there is no different whether u take it under banking and fin or acc and fin.

Hi all,

Anyone has applied for exemption using UOL Accounting and Finance degree? Which modules do we get to be exempted? Are we suppose to be exempted from all the fundamental modules?

Thanks in advance.

Can get the exemption for F1 to F9 except F4 and F6.
