today have a revision class, and the lecturer said something like this,

"i know that that [my normal class lecturer] teach with everything printed out, NOT SAY ITS NO GOOD, but i believe you should copy down yourselves so that you will have a better memory. or else after one hour you will forget everything. AND YOU LEARN NOTHING IF YOU DONT COPY"

i dont want to mention names, go figure youself if u want to, but thats what he said today, which i think is very very bad for a lecturer to speack like this, particularly, my normal class lecturer is more senior, and have, produce all 3 top students of the subject last semester.

What he said is from research and it true. Senior does not equal good, and top 3 students may oni mean he is lucky to get 3 very motivated individuals in his class.

well, seriously, as an accountant, you think it is just "lucky" for top 3 students to be in the same class by the same tutor when there are so many people taking the subject?

2nd thing is that he said at first "not say it is not good" den back stab the lecturer again by saying, "you dont copy, you learn nothing" the word he use is"nothing" not less effective.

u think such words should come out from an accountant?

as i said previously i just venting some anger cuz i feel unfair, but dunnoe why, you, always you, is able to get my nerve...

Y u so angry. If u do a lot of qns in accounts, it quite easy to get to the top,

He said few thousand sentences in the 2hr lecture, and u quoting his one sentence. Nit fair to him leh.

Not all accountants is perfect and sometimes, they do make mistakes too..After all , accountants are still human beings. Do well in your exams and prove him wrong.

I would say my opinion on top students is based on probability rather than "luck" ba.. ("the more students you have , the higher chances you get top students.") though i do agree luck play a part in all aspects in life but not to a great extent.

However to get a big class ,the tutor needs to be a good one to attract students to register for his class. So Indirectly, it shows that the lecturer is good. May not be a good benchmark though.

ya, may not be a good bench mark. the passing rate however, maybe a better bench mark. too bad they never release that....

however, a simple anology, you found 3 errors in the FS and they belongs to the 3 highest value transactions. u think it is just a mere coincidence?

all top lecturer at least lecturer i know don't give and read model answer to students. Sami, dominic, roy all require student to jot down answers in class. no point attending a class whereby lecturer read from the book and you sit there too boring la.

i agree with you totally. i guess it is not too much abt sitting there boring. when you write you have a better understanding of what is going on.

Roy Goh will scan and upload EVERYTHING written in class for you ... so you need not be busy copying notes while neglecting listening to his lectures and explainations. This is to facilitate a better understanding.

End of the day, different men different strokes. Some find it useful, some prefer to write something to keep themselves awake or understand.

depends. complex theory based question requires full attention to the explaination of answer, and copying while the teacher is talking may direct away some attention. of course i would say this situation is less likely in acca, it does occurs in studies...

F8 helena johnson is rather good for the context for exam, last sem all top 3 from her class. she however dont crap joke.

F9 ng mei yen, currently taking her class in revision, half way through, i fell asleep, den i go novena shopping, comes back to get the extra set of notes... and i regret for coming back from velocity so early.

F6 joanna cheong, took her revision class. she is rather new, and she copy yvvone style of teaching. well, to be frank is consider ok for her being new, but still a bit lower standard as compared to yvvone.

F5 elaine tan: today she said no enough time so can only practice a few question, then she used 1.5 hrs doing one question that is not F5 standard and wont come out in exam...

Andy Tan was my Lecturer last semester. He's a very nice lecturer, you will never feel bored in his class.
He knows the subject well and will teach what he knows and will want you to learn well. He gives test every week to make sure you did your revision of the subject.
He shares his travelling photos and play music during break time which feels good.
I will take back Andy Tan if i were to come across the subject which he's teaching. I will want him to be my lecturer again. He's good!
