F7 and f8 no gd tutors in Kaplan?

For F8 Nicholas Woo is also quite a good lecturer. I took his class for F3 before and it was quite helpful. Of course Helena also has a good reputation. Just don't take Philip Tan's classes (luckily he stopped conducting F8 class): Very very boring

F2 and F4 can be taken at the same time? I've cleared paper F1 and F3 already, do I have to finish F2 only then I've to take F4? Does it work that way?

Having said that, who'd you recommend for F2 and F4 @ aljunied?

Lastly, will they provide the text book?

(I'm sorry for being very paranoid. I am contemplating crossing over to SAA because I feel that Kaplan is inaccessible for me. Thanks a million)

Definitely ok to take at same time, I took F2,F4,F6,F8 together the last semester. (nearly killed myself doing it though...)

I don't know SAA tutors well but textbook is a certainty...

i dont know about this, but i dont really feel comfortable with this...
look at their tagline... "Your fav tutor has joined us. Will you?"
this is too intimidating... wat exactly are they trying to say?

furthermore they run their courses online... how do u teach me the calculations online? i might b confuse if the structure of the Qs changes... hmmm

You are so doubtful about this online course yet so hopeful for Kaplan online degree, such a contradictory statement for something so similar:s8:

because I dont like the way it sounds here... and it is accounting papers... not those tat I can read up and ask Qs... these requires calculation, exercises...

i had trouble with me E-Maths previously, even though I attend tuitions, I still couldnt get it right~ so yeah, tats where I come from... i guess not everything can b done online.. those which requires more hands-on or practical, still needs physical support and guidance, unless they are able to complement tat via online method, which m not sure how...

perhaps you can enlighten me?? =)

Woh you are really epic with your statement.:s22: I wonder how much Kaplan pay you for advertising their online course that you recommend, from Global diploma to e-degree. They should pay you a handsome sum of money if they haven't YET.

So you think you can't cope with E math and what makes you think UCD doesn't even have any maths at all? For most of their core unit, esp. for Economics, they also do have their mathematical calculation too. Maybe you would like to enlighten me how are you going to understand the concept well for UCD when you think you can't even understand well for this online course provided by LSBF?

Also, i do contemplate to join UCD but you know, the more you talk for Kaplan, the more i don't intend to join.:s13: Because like what one person said in another forum, if it sound too good to be true, it really is. You are not representative of UCD or Kaplan, nor LSBF and their online course, yet you are so extreme in your view for each of them, one CAN really see where you stand at.

Hi everybody!

I just completed a PDip in Accounting & Business Finance program from Kaplan and am considering my options for further studies. I'm more inclined towards ACCA than a degree.

I'm a 'A' Levels holder, went to local U to study Engr but dropped out, found myself more interested in Accounting. Working as accounts assistant atm.

Of course, i'd heard horror stories of ACCA being difficult to pass, and with my cert (minimal knowledge), i'm not sure if i can cope.

Would like to know/seek advice here of cases of A lvls holder with little accounting background doing well in ACCA.

Thanks :)

man, i hav no idea what those places did to you, but i guess u need to cool down and relook at this post~ =)

Accounting papers are pure maths~ calculations, formulas, functions and stuffs...

how can u compare it to UCD Degrees? which might only have 1 or 2 papers with maths? anyway, this is a forum, so feel free to speculate or have ur own thoughts... am not goin to comment any further... =)

I'm glad there's someone else here who also thinks Tackey_Kong is a kaplan staff.
You just have to see his post history.

Honestly online courses is possible.

Kaplan run online courses for catch up classes as well. BUT, unfortunately their online courses to me sucks... this is because the IT department was extremely slow to upload the lectures onto the student portal and it caused a huge delay in the catch up classes plus the video streaming was extremely bad and it took around 4 hours to view a 3 hours lecture. In the end I made a huge complain to the cost in charge and finally Kaplan compensate all the catch up class students by offering us a 100bucks refund and they burned the lessons into VCDs and gave it to the students. However, I have to admit it was useful to do the course online. It was a fantastic way to cut course for the management and for the students, we are able to view the lectures over and over again to familiarise ourselves when in doubt.

Therefore to say that it is difficult to learn calculations online, I dun really agree to it. But nevertheless I always feel that the actual lessons is always better than online ones. Online class should be a supplement and not a replacement.

Are all Sami's class in LSBF all conducted online?? I dun think so right?

aiyah let him talk loh. whether if he/she is from kaplan ultimately i believe it comes down to the ability and credentials of the lecturers. Its hard to discredit great teachers. Kaplan can coax students once or twice, ultimately if the lecturers are not good, with word of mouth students would still go find other schools or other better lecturers.

Er, LSBF staff assured me that no, all his classes will be conducted at campus. If it's really online I will have to screw them upside down and demand a refund, I didn't pay close to $1000 for an online course...

Although personally, I think online course is not too much different from actual cost, provided the IT aspects are perfectly done, but a lot will depend on the discipline of the student, since it's so flexible that students may get lazy and just "skip" the lecture for the week or glance through and this may affect their learning and understanding.

Also, actual classes give you the chance the go face to face with the lecturer to ask questions. I'm quite kiasu so I admit I'm one of those that like to bombard the lecturer with questions after class; online learning's not my cup of tea.
