Is LSBF still doing well? I heard most lecturers they poach from Kaplan also left them after their 1 year contract. Things seems messy. :(

wow who tell you one? seems very far fetched.

as far as i know the more popular lecturers namely Sami, Roy and Yvonne are all still teaching for dec 2012 exams. there is no news on them leaving.

I dont know about the rest.

Although LSBF is quite new, they have achieved edutrust cert. so I believe should be safe. If worried, maybe can go SAA or Kaplan lor

Last I heard from ICPAS, yes, you will need to take F4. Even if you did take elements law of contract for UOL, you still need to take F4. You could seek clarifications from ICPAS regarding this. Or try seeking F4 exemption from ACCA and see if you are granted it.

i went to kaplan ytd and they told me my pte dip nt recognised by acca and i cannot even start from lvl 1.

i was advised to take from FIA diploma, which consist of 3 modules, then move on to acca lvl 2 after completing these 3 modules. the 3 modules are the same as F1-3! wtf. and i have to pay exemption fees for F1-F3.

i signed up for it anw. no choice.. =(

im studying there... class starting soon. previously took my f9, p2 n p3 there.

Now much more stable with proper classrooms. and i like that they will give all the notes written by the lecturer in soft copy via email at the end of each class. very good if u missed out on what was written or you couldn't attend class. at least can go through what was taught in class.

i thought if you are above 21 they have this scheme called the "mature" scheme and lets u start ACCA straight. better confirm first...

well, the school did not mention such a thing. i asked the sch if i can be accepted via the PER, the sch said my dip is not recognised by ACCA. and that will require me to start from FIA diploma (which is no diff from F1-F3, just that i pay more $ for claiming exemption for F1-3).

quoted from the website,

Professional Examination Route (PER)
You can study for your ACCA qualification as a suitably qualified school leaver, graduate or FIA Diploma in Accounting and Business.

You must be 18 years old and above
Minimum 2 GCE ‘A’ Level and 3 GCE ‘O’ Level credits in English and Mathematics or
3 LCCI Higher Level passes (individual passes or diploma) and 2 LCCI Intermediate Level passes in Book-keeping and English for Commerce with 2 GCE ‘O’ Level credits in English and Mathematics. All five subjects must be distinct (different) subjects or
Polytechnic Diplomas and recognised University degree or
Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) qualification
FIA Diploma in Accounting and Business

It is definitely possible to self-study all ACCA papers. However, I would not recommend doing so for F6 and F8. F6 due to the complexity of the rules of tax if you are new to it. F8 is a test of understanding, rather than memory.

As for F9, just do self-study, just standard finance.

However, it all depend on your foundation.

thanks for your reply. my dip and current job has no relation with accounting. just passed my first 3 fundamentals nia considered new to this.

just asking, would there be any p papers involve in contents like f2/5 ? those kind of predictive calculations? being an external auditor i dont have to face management accounting right?

P3 and P5 requires your knowledge on F5 but I don't think it is very critical.
