SQP transitional arrangements finally out.

http://www.sac.gov.sg/content/dam/sac/PDFs/010413-Transitional_Arrangements-Brochure_V3.pdf

The answer to the burning question:

Arrangement 14:
Existing students of ACCA and existing students and associates of CPA Australia will
have until 31st December 2018 to complete the ICPAS PAC and satisfy the relevant
work experience in order to qualify for the “Chartered Accountant of Singapore”
professional designation.

Same as before this whole QP thing appears, just that the deadline to gain the 3 years working experience is 31 Dec 2018.

Failure to meet the deadline means that you can't get CA unless you successfully appeal

Yes.

If you do not want CA, then this whole QP thing does not affect you and you can ignore this entirely.

(QP only affects those who wants to get CA)

Hohoho. Means ACCA-only route members also got chance liaoo? :)
Ya good news for existing or new acca route members (those who is existing student and those who register with ACCA by july 2013)

Those who sign acca from 2014 onwards will be subject to the coming MRA with ICPAS still.

All requirements (3 years exp, PAC, ACCA complete) must complete by 2018 Dec.

Existing ACCA member who already complete all their exam must fufill the rest of requirement by 2016 Dec.

assuming a candidate register by july 2013, will he have time to complete all by 2018 Dec.

i think its not possible (3 yr exp is what kinda job?)

Correct me if im wrong, but i think that's the latest possible. If you register by jul 2013, assuming u take 4 papers per sitting, you would complete by June 2015 sitting. Get your results in Aug 15. Work for 3 years from Aug 15 to Aug 18. Technically you would still have 4 months of leeway to possibly find a job etc.?

If it is not good news then what it is?

And do you knw the working experience is not just abt post working exp only? It is true if u dun have any experience and after graduation u started working. Then you need 3 yrs post exp.

Otherwise, it can be pre post working exp. For more info, pls refer to icpas website.

Alternatively if u have acct job and already started working prior to your completion of ACCA. U just need pre post working exp of 5yrs.

10) For the criteria of 3 years post qualification or 5 years pre-post qualification relevant working experience, does it have to be local experience?
Your working experience need not be obtained from a local-based company. Overseas relevant working experience will also be considered. In addition, only full-time relevant work experience will be accepted.

thats if u take 4 papers per sitting. of which u manage to pass all at one go which is quite rare. anyways supposedly u do. but fail the last paper, of which u need to retake. means u miss the deadline ?

mayb a faster route is.... plymouth uni. for non acct dip, u need to take a 9mth advance dip by saa. after which u can take the 1 yr deg accredited by plymouth uni n the go for the SQP. wondering is it possible?

wld any one recommend it?

Hi, pardon me for my ignorance, but I'm still quite blur about this SQP thingy after reading up on it. So ultimately, the SQP will lead to CA Singapore too?

And for the 5 years pre-post qualification relevant working experience - assuming if I've worked for 3 years before I took up ACCA, then worked for 2 years while studying ACCA, I would have fulfilled this requirement?

TIA!

Technically, you can take 16 papers on 4 sittings, so u can actually fail up to 2 papers in between the sittings(assuming you got no exemptions at all). No failing on the last sitting though. Haha yeah. Not recommended at all.

As for Plymouth, I'm not really sure how it fits in to the SQP, but i guess if you are talking about new entrants into this, yeah it somewhat sounds shorter and safer overall. Not sure whether if SQP recognises it though. Which stage are you right now? Considering to join ACCA now?

But I think for those who are already halfway through ACCA or have exemptions for ACCA would still go ahead with ACCA..? I know I am. Haha :)

was an acca student. have signed up with plymouth for upcoming may intake. it is recognised by sqp but need go thru foundation less exemptions
it consist of 6 modules of which some are assignment based 100% or partial assigment which should make it considerably easier to pass than 100% exam based acca. also u are allow to retake for 2times if u failed the first time before ure required to redo module.
it might not be as recognised as other degrees but gives fast track to CA which is what I am looking for.

another reason why I do this is im in an ATO now so dun wan to waste chance to clock the exp since I dunno how long I will stay in there
