Hi,I just wanted to ask a few questions about schools etc

I'm currently in SAA finishing up my CAT,i enrolled in the day classes because im not working or anything and im 17,straight after my O's ive come to CAT and soon ACCA,

Most of my classmates are foreigners,To me its really dreadful to go to school knowing 95% of your classmates cant converse with you in proper english and i can barely make friends with them,Is this the same at Kaplan or LSBF?Are most of the day students foreigners?Id love to have local classmates.

Plus another downside at SAA is the fact that theres not much halal to eat around, most of the places to eat at are foodcourts which dont have halal stalls,Its all in all a pretty dull place to study at.

Should i continue my studies at Kaplan or LSBF?Since im already going to be done with CAT and most of the lecturers mentioned here teach in those 2 schools.

Thanks

I think LSBF have a better mix of students, of coz there are foreigners too (but lesser). I have been the schs u mentioned, so i can understand your concerns.

You may also try ftms as well.there got more international students (who speaks english) :)

How to start?

Hello peeps! I am new to hardware zone and I just want to ask some questions regarding ACCA! What exams do one take if I do not have knowledge on accountancy! Do i take the foundation exams! Also, I have just graduated from secondary school! Is it advisable to register with ACCA with just my 'O' level certificate? :s13:

Hi guys, for upcoming July2013 F1-F3 timetable, any comments on which are the better lecturers. Would appreciate if you can share some insights..thanks :)

F1 - YY
F2 - LeePY, Joanna C
F3 - NickW, KellyN, YeoSP

I have done F1 with YuenYuen. F3 with Nicholas Woo. F9 with Lee Pei Yee.

Lee Pei Yee very exam focused. Gives excellent exam tips, but not very good at explaining stuff. she goes through stuff very fast but helps people during breaks or after classes. If not exam related she probably will say "this won't come up in exam" or "this is not in your syllabus". I am taking the F9 exam coming 7th July and i think i am adequately prepared.

YueYuen is totally opposite. she gives video presentations, articles from newspapers etc. She is very relevant but also exam focused. goes at a steady pace, gives out quizzes homework etc. very good at explaining stuff and has a ton of experience.

Nicholas Woo has auditing in his blood (his actual quote). very funny guy and he is good at explaining stuff. Tells students about his experiences as an auditor as well. I am going to take his F7 and F8 classes coming July.

Hope I helped

I'm taking 2 papers, if i'm unable to attend for the last paper, do i need to return the docket? Also, will my final certificate reflect how many times i failed?

Your final certificate will not highlight how many times you fail. It will only highlight which sitting did you pass that paper.

And that is only available when you are still an affiliate and when you logged on to MyACCA.

If you have converted to a member like me you will not be able to see the results online.

which is better for f1 to f3?
1. kaplan
2. saa
3.ftms

or i can self study with these papers?

i got no accounting background getting into acca, i managed to self studied f1 &2 only, i suppose u can too, f1 is theory, f2 is more on math calculation but there's a little bit of change in syllabus since 2 yrs ago i took the exam.

as for f3, i suggest not to skip lessons if u are not from acct field. i took saa ben lee for f3 and f7, he's ok for f3, but not so recommended for f7, do question kinda slow during f7.

er, self study u make sure u are registered with acca as a member, if not cannot take written or computer based exam i think. and if u want to take computer based exams (CBE) for f1-f3 in saa, u need to go to saa and register for exam, not sure other sch have CBE or not.

This is my first time writing acca exams at expo. I am taking F5,F6 and F9 exams.

Do they provide lockers outside the exam hall to keep your belongings like hand phone etc?

I did f1-3 computer based exams and they provided lockers outside the room.

Both Kaplan & SAA have ACCA Platinum Status, unlike the others such as LSBF which is russian/ukranian owned newbies in Spore. FTMS seems very quiet nowadays. SAA has the top 4 performing ACCA graduates while Kaplan is a renown school, though they're probably better known for degree & post-grduate programs & not ACCA courses.
