Hi, I'm a school dropped out student, 20 this year, ORD 2015 march. I wanna go the ACCA route as I don't have any qualifications except PSLE.

Is it advisable if I go through from Foundations of Accountancy? The introductory certificate all the way to ACCA qualifications?

How long will this route take till i get a ACCA qualifications?

I've decided to enrol in SAA after I ORD next year as the 4 lessons per week is too overwhelming for me because I'm in NS.

Total cost to get ACCA = $????

As I'm a PSLE holder, will the introductory be hard for me even though it's the basic one?

Willing to put in effort as I'm really worried for my future and CAT seems to be the only thing that doesn't require formal academic qualifications..

Better late than never, not sure about CAT, heard can finish in 2 years, for ACCA if hardworking and successful also can finish 2-3yrs quite comfortably. Think there is some matured route not sure for how old but you can check.

If accountancy is your choice then this route should be more efficient than going to poly then degree.

As long as you put in effort it won't be too hard, best if you can take ACCA PT then find some job from some agency, if possible as related to accounts as possible.

It can be a boring line and job with limited growth, so should there be another alternative/opportunity available, I'd recommend you consider it thoroughly.

I'm also keen to know if there's any other professional course that one can take... e.g. healthcare sector, electrician etc?

Hi, for your reference, i am currently studying last 3 professional papers, and i included these sch fees in my calculation.

i already spent 12.5 to 13k, including the yearly fee to acca, revisions, exam fees. not yet include coming revision and exam fee but should be about another 2k if i dont fail.

this is only acca portion, i donno about the cat and fia fee.

Not very interested in accountancy but willing to give it a shot since it affect my future.

As for finding a PT job related to accountancy one, I believe it's hard as I'm only a PSLE holder, not much companies will give me a chance :(
Hope to get ACCA before 25 years old, meaning 5 years from now

FIA/CAT I believe it's around 10k If I manage to clear everything without failing, so it takes around 20+ grand to complete an ACCA..

I plan to apply for study loan as family is not too well off :o

I think i spent abt $3k-$4k so far (including exam fee + subscription) and left 4 P lvl subjects to complete. Self Study F5, F9, F6. $13k is too expensive? you go for revision class?

i self studied only f1 and f2,

the rest i go class, of all these i took revisions, f3 and p1 no revision.

i think saa has been the cheapest, i went there for my first few fundamentals. especially nowadays their star lecturer went to other sch, they got better discount lol

f6 onwards (except p1 and f8 is ap chee)all went to lsbf, more ex den kaplan and saa, but good lecturers are there

p3 went andy tan kaplan.

P papers price range about 720-770 per paper without revision. F papers at 600+

My lecturer who is an auditor said is quite hard to get into big 4 with ACCA cert nowadays unless you're a uni graduate, priority comes to degree holder. However, he said can try to get prize winner for audit papers to get into big 4 , good luck :)

Me! I am doing AR and studying acca, I have no prior accounts cert or experience.
I have a friend who is in same situation as me doing full accounts also.
Another accquaintee with same background but have sibling at one of the big 4, pulled him in.

I think another factor is the expected salary you state on resume?

Wow. Lucky! I can't get any interviews despite having some admin and accounting exp.
Damn, I don't know anyone who can 'pull' me in.

Me too, but That's what my lecturer said:(.... nope, I go straight to ACCA after my secondary school, so I'm now doing f7, f8 and f9, still waiting results for f4 to f6 :D

One of my manager's son was doing internship at one of the big 4 while studying last few papers of level 2. When he completed level 2, the big 4 offered him a perm position but he rejected as he want to focus on the last few papers.

I think if sacrifice average salary to gain experience on audit line will not be hard for you to get a place? Eventually, if they know you can work they will offer you a place.

I see. If can't get into Big 4 then I don't know where else to apply man. Like dreams and hope are dashed.

I also know of a guy also got a place in one of the Big 4 thru connections. The mum is some big shot or something. Pisses me off to no end :s8:
