Some of the level 2 F papers have change the syllabus, recommend to purchase the study kit that up to Jun 2015. Just my two cents worth

Actually all formats has changed except for Tax F6.
Remaining has included quite a heavy weightage on tricky MCQ questions.
You have to get the updated practice kits but topics are the same so same study text can still be used .

OBU- necessary?

Hi all!

Anyone here completed their OBU degree? I mean, can we even call it a degree? lol

Is it worth the $$ to get it done? From what I've read from ACCA website, only 3 meetings with the Approved Mentor and that's it? And apparently it's compulsory to have a mentor which means signing up with one will cost at least $700.

Does having this degree give us an edge with the big 4/future employers in addition to our ACCA cert? hmmm..

my pov:
If you intend to progress in Spore only then perhaps SIT accountancy because it is a local Uni afterall and most companies (big 4+govt sector especially) give priority to local U grads.

If you intend to progress overseas/join American/European MNCs, ACCA will give you the edge against local uni grads due to ACCA being internationally recognised. Unless of cos you're competing against a local uni grad who has big 4 experience(due to the above scenario), then gua gua you might lose out.

ACCA is working with UOL for a masters degree. Why get the OBU degree?

But 2016 then introduce leh.. a bit the long. Dunno still got stamina to study a not. Sigh..

Those MBA price dont come out cheap.
ACCA partner with Manchester and UOL on MBA program. The difference between MBA and OBU is MBA only upon you complete everything OBU once you complete F paper can take.

Take Manchester MBA for example is around $30K. OBU probably $1-2K.

I'm actually waiting for the results of the final 2 papers I took last sem.. Hopefully can clear, otherwise thought of taking the obu together ma. Don't waste time lol. But aiya wait till results first then decide anything ba.
