Some still waiting for the new official outcome from ACCA for CA Sg after their 'meeting'. One of the option you have is to continue with ACCA while waiting for the latest news. To answer your question, let assume the new outcome is not recognize.

Then it depend what is your objective. If you are only interested to be a Public Accountant in Singapore, then it is a MUST to get CA Sg & no point for you to continue with ACCA.

However if you are interested to be a 'Public Accountant' to do work like audit in other countries, ACCA is still consider the better choice.

thanks for the quick reply. so it is no point for me to continue with ACCA?

Not sure if this is the latest news because I did not follow up closely to SQP & CA Sg.

Arrangement 8:
Holders of recognised professional qualifications (including ACCA and CPA Australia), but have yet to fulfil certain criteria such as relevant work experience, proficiency in local law and tax and successful completion of the ICPAS PAC, will have until 31st December 2016 to complete the ICPAS PAC, satisfy the proficiency in local law and tax and relevant work experience in order to qualify for the “Chartered Accountant of Singapore” professional designation.

Arrangement 14:
Existing students of ACCA and existing students and associates of CPA Australia will have until 31st December 2018 to complete the ICPAS PAC and satisfy the relevant work experience in order to qualify for the “Chartered Accountant of Singapore” professional designation.

Arrangement 15:
Individuals will have until 31st July 2013 to register as new students of ACCA and as new students and associates of CPA Australia, for a course that will commence no later than in 2013, and until 31st December 2018 to complete the ICPAS PAC and satisfy the relevant work experience in order to qualify for the “Chartered Accountant of Singapore” professional designation.

What is your understanding for these Arrangements? Your friend maybe struggling to meet the time frame does not mean that you meet the requirement to even start anything.

it is already too late to be part of the transitional arrangements for CA (Singapore). i think he might be referring to obtaining CPA(Aus) as a standalone and get CA(SG) via mutual recognition?

Under 'Other Recognised Professional Qualifications', it did state CPA (Aust) & even ACCA.

However if you read the mutual recognition, it is about using CPA (Aust) to get CPA Singapore (Non-practising). First, it is for Non-practising. Second, it is out of date because now is CA Singapore & not CPA Singapore.

so it is still recommended to go via SQP?

Just for clarity purpose:

1. ACCA is not inferor or any worse. Not considering internal referral, to join Big 4 , ACCA stands a better chance over offshores degree.

2. ACCA itself is a professional certification that is still highly regarded in Singapore accounting and commercial industry.

3. With regards to SQP, everyone (including local uni, offshores uni and ACCA ~ not covered under transition period) right now have to go through SQP. This may change in upcoming March 16 update.

Torotoro: Education will never screw you.

Kyoji bro,

Sorry and i know you tries to provides feedback and help others from your HR experiences. However, i think with regards to accountancy profession, i think you let others who are in the profession advise better.

I am not trying to judge. But i seriously doubt those who are currently taking ACCA are screwed.

it doesn't work this way. what works for you might not work for everyone.

deniseyehzp, i suggest you ask yourself if you are comfortable with Ben's teaching style and the grades you got for F7. if it is meeting your expectation then stick with him, otherwise you are better off to try out Sami or any other lecturers.
