the cheapest external dvd writer i saw in the sls pricelist was also around $100 lo.. where to find cheaper one? i ish interested..

My mistake. Sorry haha. If you want a DVD writer, buy from ACER. Last night I checked at Challenger, cheapest is around 130SGD.

And for Microsoft Office, SGD129 is quite a good deal as it is selling for SGD148 outside...

8 hours or 12 hours?

No idea but my battery seems almost fully charged. I charged it further (plugged in) for another an hour or two and have been using it for almost 4 hours, still left with 1 hour odd juice. Not bad seriously considering i attached an external dvd writer and hdd to it

i din do any 8 or 12 hr charge.. I just use until the battery went flat then just charged it full to use for next round.

JUST collected it! my set come with the battery fully charged... so i think i will just use it flat and then charge it. aspire one is great man!

If you have a network router (wireless or wired) and a desktop, you can actually do up a simple network and make use of the resources on your desktop (i.e. CD drive, storage etc).

Save the money of getting an external drive.

I am travelling next week so I email them that I can't collect during the period, asking if i can collect this week.

The reply from them is a yes. So i printed the email to bring there as proof. However, they didn't even ask for it. And they have loads of stock.

Upgrades are available but I think the pricing is a bit high.

Example:

1. DVD writer is sgd129. Which we can get for around half the price

2. Microsoft Office SGD129. This we can get a 3 license otiginal package for less than that. And I have 2 original office professional license so I am going to use my own (better check if I can install one copy into 2 computers although I am the only user.)

Other stuffs like leather casing, batteries, extended warranty etc. All are a bit too expensive IMHO as extended warrenty for extra 2 years are more than 30% of the Aspire One's sales price.. dont think it's worth it heee.

but the drive will be useful if i wanna do some formats with bootable thumbdrives.

Those $70 ext dvd writer is DIY one.

You buy a normal DVD writer for $40 and a SATA/IDE>USB casing w/power for $30. Put the DVD writer into the casing then you got a ext USB DVD writer liao loh.

There is is inter windvd can uninstall?
I'm thinking of using mediaplayer classic or vlc player.

guys i really new to this lap top thing so i have some question.

I already did my first 9 hour charge so infuture if i want to charge i cannot on the power and charge?

1. Do i have to off the comp to charge till max?
2. Can i charge 1/2 way (sometimes in a hurry)
3. Can i use the comp and charge at the same time?

4. Will doing any of the above affect the battery performance?

Hi all, is it alright to use another acer laptop power adapter to charge the Acer Aspire One?

Though it's a different voltage and amphere, will it fry the Acer Aspire One?

hmmm i removed the office 2007 first then i removed the trail period activation. was successful in removing both. hope this helps
