Seriously tempted to get this monitor, for both gaming and movie watching. Some considerations:

1. Will my single GTX970 be able to support gaming on this screen (have intention to upgrade to 980Ti mid-year)

2. Any other screens with comparable features at this price point?

3. I sit about 0.75m from the screen, is it too large?

I think a 980ti is bare minimum, 970 can work just won't be able to drive very well at the native resolution of this 34 inch, or add another 970 for SLI.

I am using an LG 34inch, your distance quite ok.

excellent choice! if your plan is to get a 980ti later, maybe hold it off for a bit and wait for the next generation of cards? i'm pretty sure that would be the sweet spot gpu for the x34.

Thanks guys. Am looking at current stocks being sold before making my selection. Preferably get a recent manufacture date to lessen the chance of getting some of the units with problems as reported in the forums. :)

display size to distance ratio is rather subjective, but all 34 inches of it will be within your peripheral vision, at a normal sitting distance. i guess it's a matter of how much you are willing to move your eyeballs.

I am still having difficulty to accept Acer because it doesn't come with on-site warranty.

may not have the best dead pixel policy, as per what has been posted in the XB271HU thread, if the dead pixel policy is the same for both monitors.

And what IS the deal pixel policy?

Minor defects of LCD displays occurring in any Acer Products equipped with LCD display technology, provided that there shall not be more than (4) defective pixels per million pixels on a given LCD display, and provided further that, if the display panel is divided into nine (9) equal rectangular areas, there shall be only one (1) defective pixel in the central area of the display.

Maybe still as above ?

Only Dell Ultrasharp models have the best pixels warranty.

All Gaming monitors do not use Premium Panels.
They're just normal panels with nVidia G-Sync chips.
Expensive coz nVidia charges premium for their chips.

All Acer Gaming Monitors have 3 years On-Site Warranty in SG.

going to ask a stupid question. What is the difference between a "premium" panel vs a normal panel. I know that the B grade monitors use rejected panels and those come with a variety of issues such as dead pixels, scan lines, BLB, screen uniformity and the like.
