it's japanese mindset. When they thought everyone love it, they will keep pushing for it for donkey years. example how they still trying to push "CROWN"... Lack of innovative.

Seriously, many years ago, I said the same about Toyota... After rounds of test drives and comparisons... My first car ended up being the 8th Gen Toyota 5 speeds manual Corolla from Japan...the rest is just history...

Yeah, I think almost 2 years ago, I rented one in Japan chitose airport.

shock to see a less the 1000km car.
brand new smell.

very smooth drive. Comfortable seats.
From chitose to lake Toya to Sapporo to furano.

sapporo to furano need to overcome a highland (about 45min during nightfall, no lights) no issue with up and down slope. (Car with 7 pax’s with lots of luggage

have auto switch of high beam for oncoming traffic lane to avoid blinding them.

Japanese cars are designed meant to last.

Parts are easily found even beyond 10 years.

Fact is industries do not survive based on such models where consumers do not buy new cars.

So EV doesn’t reduce the carbon footprints unless they mature in their logistics to allow EV lasts more than 10 years, which is unlikely.

Tiong EV is all fluff no soul.
Maybe not in context, saw something interesting mentioned, that behind alot is their ah-gong pump money to make it so cheap to take over world market. After grow big enough in size liao then ease off let it cruise on own.

Thus think its not simply that with all those bells and whistles they are any more value for money. Its cause think alot the costs are absorbed by ah-gong to make it look value for money. Also their scale of production can really bring down the cost.

So, enjoy it while it last, as think once those support ease off, the prices going to rise to match the 'real' cost of market somewhat bah.

Maybe not in context, saw something interesting mentioned. Toyota is now one of the most profitable out there, in light of the EV craze that dragged many down and lost till tng-kor.

Toyota was mocked then, when it decided to stick to mostly hybrid, when most others let the EV craze get to their head and many go most or all in.

Now much of those big players are losing money on their EV bet. CN asides, cause think behind is its ah-gong pump money support one, how to beat the whole country.

And think Toyota emerge the winner with more money earned, as most consumers still go for practicality with the lack of EV infrastructure and support to make EV really that attractive in the world.

Japanese brands and China brands cater to a different crowd. Japanese brands for those who like to keep their cars for long, China brands for those who likes the latest tech.

No right no wrong, as long as the consumer goes into it knowing the pros and cons of each brand.

There is no right or wrong.

I hope our government and the world can be neutral and stop saying EV reduces carbon footprint. Because the cost to build an EV has never being factored in.
