Toyota is time tested with decades long reliability track record. Example their prius can run up to a total lifespan of 400k km mileage without serious issues and this is why Singapore taxis uses it.

Once 10 years coe finish, people even buy a fresh 10 year coe and continue to drive on it.

Think its still one of the most reliable in the world, repairs are simple and cheap. And still works in tough weather and environmental condition.

Saw some interesting videos showing that much of the world lesser places those (rebels) fighting troops and such, mostly use old toyota trucks to modify mount their machine gun, rocket launcher and mortar, etc. They work in tough conditions. Cheaper and easier to repair also.

Also think vaguely saw one CN expedition team video clip to those cold tough places, think to showcase their (think is) EV car or something performance. They somewhat mentioned many standard expedition teams never go on a trip without a toyota car one. Which think they have one also in the mix. Just in case their own break down need the toyota rescue (tried and tested reliability). :s22:

Running the Math: Cost to Drive 15,000 km/Year

The average private car in Singapore clocks roughly 15,000 km annually.

1. Pure Petrol: Corolla Altis 1.8A

  • Fuel Needed: 15,000 km×(100 km7.5 L)=1,125 Liters
  • Annual Cost: 1,125 L×$2.90=$3,262.50

2. Full Hybrid: Corolla Altis Hybrid

  • Fuel Needed: 15,000 km×(100 km4.5 L)=675 Liters
  • Annual Cost: 675 L×$2.90=$1,957.50

3. Electric Vehicle (EV): Public Charging Only (HDB/Malls)

  • Energy Needed: 15,000 km×(100 km16 kWh)=2,400 kWh
  • Annual Cost: 2,400 kWh×$0.65=$1,560.00

4. Electric Vehicle (EV): Home Charging Only (Landed/Condo)

  • Energy Needed: 2,400 kWh
  • Annual Cost: 2,400 kWh×$0.324=$777.60

If live in landed EV is very cheap it is of no contest, however if use public charging only save alittle. Can also go JB pump even cheaper oil with no range anxiety.

However take note that new hybrid’s parf will be reduce significantly to only 5% instead of usual 50% at the end of 10 years so economical wise can only get those used vehicle before 2026. Otherwise an EV makes more sense.

As long as Alphard outsold other MPVs, why would Toyota want to change.
