Congratulations!!

Ask your wife when was her last menses and work out how many weeks it could be now. Usually only visit gynae around the 8th week because then gynae will be able to scan and see the sac.

Regarding which gynae to choose, choose one whose clinic is convenient to your wife if she will be going for check up alone (if you are not free to accompany her). Most of the gynaes can deliver at various hospitals but do check with them your preference first.

If you go Gynae, he will ask you the same thing as in tested the kit and ask you to wait...

When we had our first child, we bought almost all the different brands / models you can find in the market to test and test...

Congras, motherhood forum have plenty of suggestions and recommendations. Meantime help her on housework, forget the weekend mtg with your friends, bring your wife out more often, play soft soothing music at home.

If you’d like, can clarify on what can/cannot be done - but gynaes usually just advise the usual, like no smoking, no alcohol, no raw food etc. But first visit normally nthg much, just do a scan to detect sac/heartbeat, ask some routine questions, then schedule you for next visit. Meanwhile you can slowly read up & think of what you need to find out from your gynae before the next visit, which would probably be scheduled in a mth’s time (this depends on different gynaes) if everything goes fine, ie if gynae sees no big problem with the pregnancy & your wife does not have any pre-existing illnesses which may affect the pregnancy in any way.

I went for monthly check ups from 7th week onwards all the way till 28th week. First trimester/Oscar scan at 12th week, then detailed scan (FA scan) at 20th week. There may be a lot of info for you to absorb at the moment but slowly read up lo, you have a lot of time from now till baby is born to do so

I didn't have the Oscar scan, my doc recommended harmony blood test which is more accurate + get to know gender of baby @ 10w, results in another 2w.

Ts, let your wife have sufficient rest by helping in household chores. No carrying of heavy stuff.

We chose Oscar cos cheaper & we weren’t in hurry to know gender. the price difference quite significant if I rmb correctly.

I didn't have the Oscar scan, my doc recommended harmony blood test which is more accurate + get to know gender of baby @ 10w, results in another 2w.

Ts, let your wife have sufficient rest by helping in household chores. No carrying of heavy stuff.

Harmony i think is a us genetic scan cost around $1-1.5k

actually those scan waste money one , last time people give birth to 8-10 baby also no scan one... most importance is vitamin ,

just eat ,sleep , as normal. but during 5-9month is the worst , emotion prepare your wife and your self (play some baby crying video etc). and start planing for after birth, etc who going take care and so.
after baby born, first to 6month critical , his personality will follow the way you treat your baby.. baby when cry best is faster attend to him for first 6month , so they will feel safe.

its ok for baby to cry and normal, but not prolong period . after 6month to 18month its fun to play with baby.

Last time ppl give birth at much younger ages. My granny had 13 kids.

Nowadays it is not uncommon to be having a child at / after age 35 . Advanced maternal age is considered high risk.

I think mostly because women want to chiong their careers also. Having a baby is like getting suck in black hole for 2 years. your career will stuck, & its a life time commitment.

Advice - help your Wife as much as can. Go to pre-natal class together to understand pregnancy process
