Hello, helping my cousin to build a new rig. did some research in the forum and came up with this specs

CPU + MB : i5-4400 + Asrock h81m hds $300
Ram : Crucial 8 GB DDR 3 $90
GPU : Zotac GTX750 ti $205
SSD : Crucial m500 120 Gb $115
HDD : WD Blue 1TB 3.5" SATA 6GB/s
PSU + Case : CM 311 + FSP hexa 500 $105
Drive : Samsung OEM 24x dvddrw $21
Monitor : Dell S2340L 23" $220
KB + Mouse : Logitec MK120 $20
Wireless adapter: use router? or have inbuild adapter?

Budget <$1300

His usage : Dota 2 + MS office + web surfing + light Photoshop
His wants : Preferably a smaller size rig due to limited desk space

Qn: Does the power supply enough for the specs? and is it overkill for dota 2 only, is i3 enough?

yup psu is fine. 750ti doesnt take up much power

might need wireless adapter, either pci or usb, can be bought quite cheaply too.

as for i3, i suggest i5. this way the pc can "futureproof" abit longer.

Dont even need an i3. A Pentium is enough. Not only that. By right you can even run intergrated graphics. Just add in a entry level gpu will give you high settings le.

Ok. If you can get a 2gb one at the same price sure go ahead.

Powercolor 7730 can't play high settings in dota2. Will make gpu high temp and load lag. I have this card so I know.

Heres some benchies on dota 2.

On high settings it should be slightly above 6670 and below gtx650. 6670 performance although a older card has a roughly the same horsepower as compared to the 7730 being a slightly faster card.

If there is a need to hit 60fps for dota 2 (which i dont think is needed) atS can go for 7750 or a gtx650 instead.

actually dota 2 is more cpu dependent, even with 7850 i couldnt hit 60fps constant on the fx 4100

Of cause, you should spend a bit more on the gpu. As for the cpu, an i3-4130 will be enough alr. You should spend another $260 for a r9 270. I recommend sapphire, but powercolor works fine too.

Then you should at least educate him and telling him, buy something that caters for your need. Not buying something that he dont need it.

No point paying more for something that he do not use.

An i3 is seriously not gonna yield him good "gaming" experience. If he really wants a gpu to be lasting (which i sincerely doubt he needs one since he only plays dota 2) Then he should be serious to look on a GTX750 1gb ~ $169 or a 750ti 2gb ~ $208.

And fyi paying more does not mean futureproofing.

Why Silverstone SG02? It is not exactly small, FSP Hexa 550W @ $69 should be already in stores now, with 3 years warranty.
