Advice on Penang

Has anyone drove in Penang before ?
Will you recommend it ?

Have a family of 6, 3 elderly, 2 adult and 1 pri sch kid.

Not sure whether to rent or to grab, is it safe to rent and how's the parking / road conditions there? Anyone can share their experience ?

I'm here, drove all the way here~ stay at Georgetown, many of the roads are one way direction which means there are lesser traffic lights~ cars generally travel at lower speed than Sg, which is a good thing~

Traffic condition always heavy, last night 10pm went to night market near holiday inn, the traffic almost standstill at certain section~ parking was pretty bad cos most cars park at roadside~ now there's an app for parking, Penang "Smart" Parking same like Parking.sg~

Yesterday went to see street mural, park more than 1km away~ when going back, I took grab to retrieve the car~
if those places you intend to go has its own parking then I think it's worth driving, if not taking grab is easier and the driver will able to share info on Penang~

Ya but doesn't take very long for each turn~ while waiting can see how creative others pose for the shots~ some can create laugher in the crowd~

Went up Penang Hill last night, the queue at the lower station was quite ok but the crowd at uphill was totally opposite~

When the funicular train reached the top, this was what we saw~ the queue for coming down was enormous, it was more than 1hr for normal queue, overheard one guy saying~ I estimate it could be >1.5hrs cos the normal queue were jam with crowd~

we bought the fast lane shortly after we reached~ took us about half hour to get the train~

That is crazy.... 1.5 hours for normal queue is unbearable even for adults.....
And you went on a weekday...

What camera you use? You take very nice photos.
Recently got news, funicular train break down. All the ppl on the hill are stuck.

Grab is easy and cheap, you don't have to worry about parking lot.

Since you already at penang, didn't plan to drive to Hat Yai to experience cross border?

There is a free shuttle bus to Design Village, I think by 2nd bridge. You can google for time schedule and route.
