Where will be good to stay for 4 person for 3 night

Good as in? If you prefer a budget travel and you want to experience the true local cultures, heritage and live of living in Penang, then you can stay in a Guesthouse. That is where you get to know the locals and talk to them. You will also get to meet home owner which is really friendly and they will tell you where to visit and to explore local food too!

But if budget is not your concern, and you would like to relax, enjoy your travel and holiday, and stay comfortably, then you can stay in a hotel. You get nice and delicious buffet food but not the local authentic feel plus swimming pool and probably sauna and also jacuzzi. Hotels are more transactional and it is hard for you to have the local feel.

Among the example of staying in a Guesthouse where you get to enjoy local feel and cultures are like you seen in the photo below.

For those love to see more than hundred butterfly flying in Penang Butterfly Farm, you need to visit the farm before March 7th, 2015. The farm will be closed for one year for expansion.

Dr Sun Yat Sen Penang Base and a George Town prewar house short video.

Please comment if you have any.

I visited Dr Sun Yat Sen Penang Base before. This is a place for serious history buffs or those who are highly curious else it would appear as quite boring

to me, there are 2 aspects of the place,

1 is to see how Dr Sun and his fellow patriots lived and operated in penang. There is a timeline of what is happening and how this base played its part during that time.

2nd is to see the heritage, the kind of shophouse architecture and stuff they were using at that time, but this can be seen in practically any museum or similar show places in penang.

I would say it is not for everyone. And for those who are that interested in the war, you can also check out the Penang War Museum which is built onto a actual bunker site and living accommodations. you would need your own torchlight and some friends as it is quite spooky. It is at Batu Maung which is a bit off the beaten track but still reachable by public bus.

Visiting Dr Sun Yat Sen Penang Base, it is not just about Dr Sun history in Penang if one is given a talk by experience house or tour guides. The prewar house itself has different stories to tell. If one just walks and looks at the house interior and decoration, I bet one may not appreciate it but likes chehjin claimed bored.

When I recorded the house, i skipped the front part which has nothing much to show besides Dr Sun historical events. For me, visiting this museum is about learning our chinese culture and some history facts in details (regardless it happened in George Town or other parts of Malaysia and Singapore). Many in their 50s or younger (especially chinese), they may not know our grandparents living style and condition. For those had visited the museum, do you really know why the chinese prewar house has at least one sky well? Why prewar houses have a rectangle shape and the house front is small? Do you know what kind of painting they use to protect the houses? The list can go on for at least one page. For those want to understand in depth, I suggest to talk to those know the topics well.

I cannot deny that many items on display in the museum may spot them in many other museums on Penang island. For those traveller does not want to spend too much $, this museum is the second cheapest museum in Penang besides Penang state museum. For better understand about the museum, one may talk to the museum manager, Alvin Wong who can give better explanation to the visitors.

Lastly, I recorded the house for my own use and it is not a tool for me to promote the museum. I also like to thank chehjin for his feedback on the museum and give me better idea to improve my video.

For Penang War Museum, it is best time to visit is during or after heavy rain time and walk into a secret tunnel. To visit the museum, one is better to have repel mosquito liquid or gel on standby. The entrance fee for non-Malaysian is higher. The mode of transport is driving there. Take a Rapid Penang, one expects to have walk some distance.

Anyone has any experience with Sunway Hotel? Been reading up the reviews and it seems that the service is appalling.

Does anyone knows when the St. Giles are opening? I still can't seem to find any reviews or call them. Agoda and booking.com booking for them are up though..

Could anyone help me choose between these two?? I am bringing my mum on this trip and with this trip being her first in a few years I want it to be smooth for her :)
