For the airport, buy the taxi ticket at the airport taxi counter (which is just outside the airport to your right), the trip from airport to Georgetown will cost RM 54.70 or RM 57.40 (I forgot).
Most of the taxis generally go by meter nowadays. Just download the MyTeksi - Malaysia's version of GrabTaxi app on your mobile (the taxi driver will collect payment as shown on the app).
No security issues (just don't wear too bling)..
any hotel to recommend?
prefer those with more variety of foods around the vicinity
Hi everyone. I'll be heading to Penang from 9th Feb to 12th Feb with my wife and will be staying at Batu Ferringhi. First time there, is it advisable to rent a car? How will the traffic be like, especially given its the CNY period? If not, getting to Georgetown I can use the bus which will take how long?
I don't think we will be doing much sightseeing, mostly will be at the beach and resort we are staying in, and maybe go down to Georgetown one day. Given that, would it make sense to rent a car for our trip, or we can use the Cat bus?
My opinion is for you not to rent the car, since you are already clear that you intend to stay in the resort and only visit Georgetown for a day trip. Not many shops will be open. Not sure about the traffic. It is quite a long bus ride of up to an hour to town. Perhaps your resort has a transport arrangement you can take advantage of.

i tried the bus service and it was convenient for a solo traveller
you can plan your way around by checking out the bus number first:

Anybody tried Uber in Penang?
does the bus from airport to komtar has storage space for small luggage?
How long is the bus ride cause i scared I miss my flight?
How long is the walk from komtar bus terminal to sunway hotel? Need to cross road?

I was told by Penang residents the free bus need to wait long and may be very crowded, izzit true?
First time visiting Penang by taking night coach this Fri.
Should I get off at Butterworth or Sungai Nibong?
