Allow me to drop my 2 cents in this thread.

You sure sound like a confused young(?) man. Don't use your parents as an excuse in your choice of studies. Ask yourself where you want to be after you complete your university studies and how your chances of entry will be affected by your choice of university. Thereafter, consider your current circumstances. If say for instance, you choose to take up private studies, start thinking about how you can enhance your own employability by perhaps taking up additional qualifications/ certifications while you are at it.

All in all, factor in the opportunity costs of every option you take into consideration.

Always remember: Whether you think you can or you can't, you are right.

I believe i'm in a similar situation as you but first off I'm 24 this year and i'm enrolled in Computing Science course in SIT and my is GPA much lower than trend setter. heck my GPA couldn't even can't make it to the minimum cut off point for the course of 3 GPA.

You could consider SIT or SUTD since it's still considered a local uni. Besides that the course is $20,200 for the whole 2 yrs of the course.

Ps U must learn to make up your mind and pick your own battle. Don't be wishy washy. I didn't let my bad result and financial difficulty hamper my progress to Uni. What's more you had a better result than me. If u want to make excuses you will have a butt load of excuses but you need only 1 solid reason to force you to get and do something.

I am actually looking at the part time programme also. Like patryn had said, I do not want to waste time to get into full time school. The risk is there, and my result is not good at all.

What's the risk? Risk getting rejected? U have been rejected before understood the feeling well.
The risk here is sitting and being wishy washy... Not doing anything let time flies

Bro, let me share my experience with you. Last time after poly, I was about 18-19 and was confused on where I should do with my life. I don't really want a degree in business, I wanted to change fields. I was holding a diploma in banking and finance and to be honest I always wanted to leave sg and go overseas. The easiest way was to get a healthcare certificate and move on from there. And so, I queried with NYP for their diploma in healthcare diploma. Was told that I won't be subsidized because I've already used up my quota for my first diploma.

Fine then, going overseas for an on campus degree was out of question as my family do not have enough money to support me for the full 3 years. I snoop around and enrolled myself in a part time degree with SIM which allows students to transfer over to on campus for their last year. I then transferred over to finish up my degree and stay on to work in the country.

The point of my story is, it doesn't matter what path you take to reach your goals. Set a goal, have it in mind and work towards/around it. You'll get there eventually if you don't give up. Throw away your thoughts on pride, brand name and all other things. Ask yourself, what do you want 5-7 years from now? Where would you like to be? What would you like to be doing? If you have the answer, good! Always have that in your mind and work towards it. Its not the degree that counts, its YOU as a person.

yup, healthcare is a good alternative taking in mind the population trend such as aging population.

Fortunately, my boss are encouraging me to further studies, she said, to go ahead if there is any school accepting you. And as for myself, I am sure that I am going to further my education. I am aiming high but just that not sure of the career I want.

If you choose option 2, sure, it may be more practical and all, but what's the point if you don't feel accomplished and proud at the end of it? go with your heart definitely.

Also, you mentioned that you withdrew from NTU due to financial difficulties. That was a wrong move imo. Tuition fees only increase with time, and local universities are needs blind, which means that you are guaranteed financial aid should you require it.

It is true, someone had also mentioned, to go ahead with your heart. YOLO, don't regret it when you are old.

I have no choice. I had difficulties getting myself for the daily expenses and therefore, I choose to go into the workforce. Afterall, it is not really that bad. I know I will be old when I enter university, but I would be more mature. (Hopefully)
