It's to defect direct cold air blowing towards u. I got 1
Effective, but some might complian no more cold cos they already used to have cold air direct blowing them. They might feel stuffy

Aircon FCUs are designed to move a certain volume of air out of the unit in order to avoid turbulence.

If the deflector causes turbulence and reduced airflow, then cooling will be affected. May also cause excessive condensation and mould build-up
