For the well-being of the aircon, yes. I believe prolonged operations under such conditions is not good to the aircon.

If your compressor is less than 10yrs i don't think so needed. This is a tactics for those aircon contractors to cheat on you easily $60 to $80, don't be a 傻嗨。
Very few compressor can last 10 yrs. Mostly problem comes after 5 to 6 yrs.

if its an old car, you can top up the aircon gas. but if its a new car, check whether the refrigerant is R1234yf, most likely yes! this aircon gas is mildly flammable, unlike older aircon gases with much higher global warming potential such as R134. its the same situation is residential aircons. newer systems are shifting to mildly flammable aircon gases as well.

do fix the aircon gas leak if its a new car, unless you want to risk a chibabom!

It's not necessary to top up gas whenever u service your Aircon unless there's a leak in your pipping.

I have 5 units of aircon for closed to 5 years. None requires top up. Get a reliable service crew or else learn how to service/wash ur unit.
