I feel that SWG21 is slowly becoming standard.

but 5/8” or 3/4” is definitely non-standard
SWG 22 to 21 upgrade only cost $30-40 per FCU. K Flex 1/2" to 1/2" Titan is $50-70 per FCU.

But to upgrade thickness of insulation by a 1/8 from 1/2" to 5/8" or 1/4" to 3/4" cost $200-300 per FCU is something that I don't understand. Are insulation materials that much more expensive incrementally?

Doesn't really seem to be the case. Cos they said thicker insulation is normally proposed for condo installation where trunking has to be run via false ceiling, which means they definitely have the supplies.

I just find the price jump substantially more than I imagined. $300 per FCU = $1.5k for 5 FCUs. Can buy aircon already... :o

When it is a niche or minority, it will be more expensive.

Received call from gain city saying my aircon bracket has installed for 6 years and they are offering to replace with a new bracket for free
Ask them why they said because of safety reason, probe them asking is there any problem with my current bracket and they cannot answer why.
Anyone received such call before?

hope to get some advice from you guys, have a new bto 2 room flat and i'm planning to get 2x system 1 for the bedroom 3m x 3m and living room which consists of 2 areas 4m x 3m and 2m x 2m.

a 9k/9k system should be enough for 9k/12k to be safer? since i will be getting 2x system 1 from same vendor, usually the vendor will count this as 1 installation fee right? also the drainage pipe to toilet will be shared or 2 sperate pipes?

do you guys also think i should get different brand like pana/starmex and stick with one brand better?

Unless an elephant has been sitting on the bracket for the past 6 years, that bracket is damn sturdy one.

Installation fee normally built into the price of the aircon.

Additionally cost would be the length of gas piping (unlikely due to your CU distance to FCU) and multiple trips.

but first, do you actually have 2x isolators? And, do you have space for 2 condenser units?

Thanks for the reply, just check only 1 isolated but my neighbors with bigger units have 2, seems like have to get HDB and sp to install, for my case both FCU will not be turned on together, so should a system 2 compressor 9k/12k be enough. The ledge area is about 180cm x 70cm.

Coz I heard from others if let's say only 1 unit is turned on using system 2/3/4/5 compressor, the bills will be higher than 1 unit from a system 1 compressor, is this true or just myth only?

Did the air con installation for system 4 more than 6 years ago for resale HDB.
Inform my installer to add PE foam and wrap it with aluminium tape. The insulation is still as good as new and no sign of disintegrated foam.
This method really works?
Thinking of doing this for my Aramex CX shield to prolong it's lifespan.

180cm might need to do diagonal placement of the condenser units.

1 isolator about $250.

Energy consumption wise, different brands would work differently on different models.

First, identify your FCU size first. Your bedroom needs 6.1K BTU. Your living room 10.9K BTU. If your walls Kenna west sun, add 20% more.

So bedroom definitely 9K, unless you squeeze 10 person inside. Living room minimally 12K. 18K if west sun Kenna the windows.

250 really not cheap slightly less than half price of one FCU already, thanks for reminding about the sun, have to factor this in too.

for the routing of the drainage pipe, i wonder if anyone has routed it to the wash basin (shorter path) rather than all the way down to the floor trap (longer path), other than asthetics issue not really a problem right.
