Hi guys,

I am currently looking to change my existing AC which is a National Sys 2 so was wondering if there is any brands that will be value for money and what should I look out for ? I had roughly read through this thread and was confused by the R22/R410, brackets... May I know if I were to replace the whole unit (Blower+Outdoor unit) what standard should I look out for?

Thanks for reading

To ray7188,
Most brands uses r410a gas nowadays.
So r22 will be out for new equipment.
Can consider Daikin or Mit Electric.

Went to GC warehouse at AMK last week and saw Mit Starmex Sys 3 inverter on sale for S$2,999 with standard installation. So, I juz ordered a set with upgraded aircon unit for MBR (12k btu extra $50), 1/2 armflex & copper piping (extra $180). Standard 1 year warranty. The total damage was S$3,229

The salesman told me that GC will refund me the difference if their in-house retail price is lower before installation next week.

Any bro got cheaper than me at GC in the last 2 weeks? If yes, kindly let me know & I will XXXX GC.

Thanks.

What freebies did you get ?
Did they give you $150 GC voucher ?

Hi Ray value for money is now KIMURA Japanese brand. Got this installed at my home. It has 4 ticks which is the excellent label from NEA. Would say it is upcoming in the market especially with the features.Slim looking/energy saving/built in air cleaner/temp dislay as well. Now i think on promo at exclusive dealer stores. Got mine from Tai Sin Electrical. Do consider its worth the thought! cheers!!

Hey experts, is 1/2 inch insulation and G22 copper piping really necessary.

Was told that DnE piping is better than G22 copper? Is it true?

Lastly, does armaflex means class 0 insulation?

I saw that it is best to avoid wires from China, do you like ask where the wires are from?

Sorry, Im abit noob in this areas.

read articles and google abit on air con still abit mixed up with these terms.

To Negger,
Dne is a brand.
Guage 22 is a quality.
We compare gauge to gauge, like 22, 23, 24.

Wires, best to get those made in Sg like Keystones, Tai Sin.

Worst aircon service :aircon servicing pte ltd 65 8448444

Insulting and extreme bad service fromaircon servicing pet ltd contact number 68448444. Made a 1st time customer wait for 1.5 hours without telling customer that their technicians are busy servicing a few last minute customers at their headquarters, I had to make mutitiple calls to chase and ask for their coordinator Charlotte who is too busy to call a customer back as she is busy on the phone, the last nail in the coffin for their "1st class" customer service is when their customer service manning the phone says it is not their fault that the technician serviceman is late and that can I wait another one hour after waiting already 1.5 hours as they have not even left their company! A big warning to people looking foraircon servicing - total disregard for customer's time !

I see, thanks for clarifying. When I asked the salesperson to quote me for G22 copper, he told me no need G22 and to go for DnE as it is better. Thought he referring to some other type of insulation.

To blu3r4in,
Most brands in the market only have inverter models.
For non inverter, only Daikin is available (if I am not wrong)

To Mr Elf,

Price seems quite cheap considering free upgrade to 1/2 insulation.

Hello, my room hasn't been installed with an aircon before.

I intend to buy the aircon unit for my room as it is located next to a very hot carpark especially at night.

Any recommendation for aircon? I am a total newbie here.
