Why filter level so power?
Using U17 level which better than Samsung H13?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HEPA

The airflow is about 2X that of the AX40.

The filter "volume" is 6.5X that of the AX40. That spec alone speaks "less resistance".
However, These truly "True HEPA" borosilicate H13s are quite a fair bit more restrictive than the regular H13 consumer HEPAs.

The power consumption is abt 80W at 600m3/h.

Another +ve is that at 52dB, it is a good few dB less noisy than a similar airflow Mfresh M8088A. Bad is that the device is big (61 x 61 x 32 dimensions).

Price to land in SG is at abt 290sgd.

Looks is a bit bleah though....even with the powder coated diffuser and SS sides.

Advice from my friend, avoid any ionizer if you have any family member is in hay fever... :D

If is pure negative ions, then I don't think is "bad". If emits also positive ions, then ya. But not sure.

Anyway, here's an article about negative ions.
http://www.totalwellnessworldwide.com/ions.html

According to the book The Ion Effect, negative ions are effective for allergies, asthma, catarrh, hay fever, sinusitus, eczema, burns, emphysema, and even as a substitute for tranquilizers. It was discovered that negative ions balance serotonin in the body, and this explains why people tend to feel more alert, stable and energized in the presence of negative ions.

Ok, if i am reading the specs correctly, it is 600m3/hr with a U17 filter and 900m3/h with a H13. The smallest 575mm x 575mm model.

Why 575mm x 575mm? Coz that is the standard (cleanrooms, hospitals, OTs)

Hospital HEPAs also use this size.

Size of 575mm vs AX40. Approx 1/4th. 40mm depth vs 69mm. Also got 50mm version and 90mm/110mm etc, of coz.

Actually if you think about it, this is the true medical grade, pharmaceutical, cleanroom stuff. :D

John, another reason why these FFUs "air cleaners" are so power and why no smaller ones, is simply coz the intended applications need that. Eg. OTs need 20 ACH laminar airflow at least, ASHRAE guidelines.

From my experience on the OT table at Mount E Orchard....there is a decent draft of clean air blowing at me, unturbulent laminar airflow, so that's some serious 1-pass filtered air.

Sorry, shd be 570mm filter instead of 575mm.

Can see the HEPA filters here @ 0.30min

See the laminar airflow at 2.25min

Only 5 particles per litre @ 0.3microns MPPS (Most Penetrating Particle Size) at the edge. And 1 particle per litre @ 0.3 microns at the OT table.

Better than ISO 5, or Class 100. Or ISO 4, Class 10 @ OT table.

Air Purifier that intakes air from external. So CO2, VOCs don't become an issue.

Sorry to interrupt the thread but I need to verify something here.

If you have your own laser particle counter, do you notice that the data from here http://fuzzyview.neocities.org/fuzzy25.htm are lagging behind the real time values obtained from the counter by about 2hours?

I have been monitoring the values and whenever there is a sharp rise, I can detect on my counter and then 2hours later, the values in fuzzy show the rise. Similarly, when there is a dip, the dip in values in fuzzy is 2hours late.

Anyone can confirm or noticed this?

Yes, I think more than 20 of us have noticed and also confirmed this many times during 2015 haze. In fact, I think much more, could be as many as 50?

Approx 1+ to 2+ hrs lag.

That is also to say that the 3-hr PSI could be as much as 5 hours late, and it also does not help that the 3-hr PSI is averaged for the 5 regions in Singapore (North, South, East, West, Central).

Most of us view it as being pretty much useless. :)
Hence, the purchases of our own meters.

An extreme example is on 19th Oct with West @ 471 ug/m3 (PSI 481) and South at 301 ug/m3, we could still see babies/kids playing @ Playgrounds and joggers jogging....it's not forum say-say how siao for fun only....people posted pics etc.
One part of SG was 471 ug/m3/PSI 481 ("Hazardous" range) and North was at 35 ug/m3 /PSI 77. It's like, WTF man? :D

The 3-hr PSI by NEA coluld be extremely misleading to a very large extent during some circumstances.

Of coz, they'd say on national TV that 2hrs of that levels of smoke isn't an issue, you'd need days at that level to cause any problem. :) Up to the individual then, can go jogging and babies out there learning to walk @ own risk, my colleague spent well > 1k on specs and 1 hospital stay for her 2 kids, besides it's not my family and not my life. Many of us just put out the warnings and "try to do our part". :)

To add on, China's level of air pollution is killing at 4.4k daily levels. Converted to SG's population, it'd be ~ 20 pax a day. It's more about stroke, heart attacks, and for China's duration/levels/chemical make-up of the pollution....cancer.

Well of course, on National TV, it'd be argued that influenza kills more daily, or colon ancer/heart attack kills more daily.
Which is of course true in such a simplistic direct comparison.

But then again, I am also taking informed positive steps and instilling discipline not to eat processed foods, exercising, eating fruits/veg, and definitely not eating BBQed chicken wings chao tarred with PAHs, bak kwa with PAHs etc. *shrugs*

Heck....do you let your 1 year old eat blackened BBQ chicken wings and Bratwursts weekly? :s13:

Seriously, we are not even looking at such a dire state, to be truthful the numbers are low. What we are really concerned about is the body triggering underlying hidden genetic disposition like rhinitis/asthma etc......things that were hidden but surfaces after our bodies get bombarded with such a load. It's a very long "recovery" journey and there are future costs in terms of suffering as well as monetary. I am sure many are rhinitis sufferers here or have experienced before. Stats = ~ 40% of the population (not all are sensitive to haze though)
