Heavy haze, whip out the originals. USe a penknife to cut away the AC (store for future use). Enjoy the 350 m3/hr airflow while being significantly lower in SPL than the XM2 even (388 and 330 m3/hr).

Activated Charcoal. Just use a penknife to slice, there is sort of a black masking tape that holds the HEPA layer and AC layer together nia. Later just put back together, no need to tape one lah.

Extra filters should have
AX40 original 3 pieces
XM2 with AC 4 pieces(Taobao)
AX40 RMB29 compatibles 12 pieces


For 2 houses and 1 office.

Office using XM2 cause alot of VOC

Total i think spending $2k


Actually normal time still need to switch on AP meh?
Are there reliable compatible XM2 filters?

And for AX40, when then should i switch to the original for the strongest protection? I mean light haze 100-200 still need?


I don't use any yet, but at the moment i think AX40 is a better buy than XM2.

The packaging should probably include English user manual, since Singapore's Mi Product all includes a English instructions guide.

whether to on AP during "normal times" is dependable on urself. whether u have severe/sensitive issues.

if u r buying due to the hype of owning an AP during haze period, you wont need it like some people buy liao dont even feel any difference during haze period.

Bro I have been trying to slice out the charcoal layer but cant. mine seem to be glued, the filter comes with the Samsung AP. Later i try to upload to see if i done wrongly.

My family use AP every night, haze or no haze. If you have sensitive sinuses, or if you live near a road, or whatever reason, up to you. For us, we are less likely to wake up with blocked nose. Plus the blowing sound has a bit of white noise machine effect.

You can always try 1 week with and without, if no perceptible difference, then use only during haze period.

From looking at the specs compared to AX40H5000GMD, like no/little diff.

Consumption both 34W
Noise both 45db
Size and weight slightly different.
Control strip both exactly the same.

The 2016 model has lower coverage area @ 39.0 sqm, the 2015 has 41sqm.

Using google translate, noticed that they removed one color for the air indicator.

AX40H5000GMD: (Polluted) Red > Orange > Yellow > Green > Blue (Clean)
AX40K3020GWD: (Polluted) Red > Yellow > Green > Blue (Clean)

Maybe there's something lost in translation, but based on a cursory look at the specs, if you didn't state which is newer, the AX40H5000GMD actually looks like the upgraded model.
