Don't know local shops got sell the AX40 filters or not.

I skipped the new version cause those results were based on the older model.

Bro I have been trying to slice out the charcoal layer but cant. mine seem to be glued, the filter comes with the Samsung AP. Later i try to upload to see if i done wrongly.

I see. Slice the black masking tape at 90 degrees perpendicularly. It should come out.

If now they use a bit of glue as well, then i guess gotta pull a bit.

Of coz take care not to rip the HEPA, which is fragile to a certain extent.

This is really an optional step anywayz.....just for fun nia. That 8-10% increase in airflow is just that, small 8-10% number figure.

True, sinkies logic is the more expensive it is, the better the quality is. :s22:
Manufacturers like such consumer logic very much, because they can earn more like that.. :o

AP thread part 1....i got rip out the AX40 and do risk assessment.

A Honeywell 50250 on a 500W voltage converter carries more risk.

Anywayz, my house got full works.....abt 20 smoke detectors.. Lost count liao (ionization and photoelectric), 2 x dry powder, woven fibreglass fire blankets and smoke escape masks. :s13:

The main phone/battery charging point got no flammable materials nearby and i have 2 detectors (1 x PE and 1 x ion) just 30cm away. :D. Fully redundant and High availabilty with failover site w ceiling detectors.

Also tested them detectors with tissue smoke personally. Pass!

Srsly, just had a kopitiam convo at my ex office spot regarding similar topic....i would agree to a similar extent.

Disclaimer : not referring to anyone here

Some people also get green eye, you get something or earn much more but with less effort or $$$, they pass lousy remarks. Explain to them how to get and enjoy the savings, they reply they only accept good stuff maciam iphone-is-the-best attitude like that....but not willing to pay good money (coz not so much disposable income).

"You can afford it, why go for taobao or qoo10"v

"Aiyah, taobao stuff...how to use man"

Srsly with such a mindset, how to retire in SG man?

Rant off.

PS. Another rant related to AP. 2015 got hit by 341 ug/m3 and 471ug/m3....gan cheong to buy but no stock. 2013's 401 also wanna buy but no stock. Now a bit of smell all say wind cool words "dont be weak and over-react". "You very rich hor". Lol. 2017 if kena 600 we'll see what happens.

comparison done many times in this thread

He is asking bt AX40 5000 and the so-called 2016 AX40 3020 ba. :s13:

I also dont see much diff. They up the power a bit and make it 350m/hr i would be happy though.
Coz China got a AX40 model that's 347 m3/hr CADR.

For me i dont look at the m2 spec, coz most times it causes confusion to those new to Air purifiers. Though same brand i guess can be a reference pt

Info :

Photoelectric vs Ionisation. Why you need both. And seriously, even our local SCDF does not differentiate between the 2 for consumer education (correct me if i am wrong though)
Amazon has got combination detectors that incorporate 2 sensors in 1 body, but i don't think can bring over. (ionisation has this radioactive compound in it called Americum, but very very small curie amount)

Taobao search term :http://world.taobao.com/search/sear...utf-8&wq=烟感应&suggest_query=烟感应&source=suggest

I gotten this type in which the alarm is 12 seconds sound type, also claims that it is CCC approved, supposedly to be of a certain quality. I tested personally, i am happy that it works to the sensitivity + did not falsely trigger during light cooking or 2015 haze episode. False alarms just cause you to give up using nia.

Hey, there is a 离子式(ionisation type) detector (last product option), but then it's RMB65/SGD13
TB2bZ1jeVXXXXa8XpXXXXXXXXXX_!!547384782.jpg

12-second one is RMB 16.50. Cheap. So i put it in my TV cabinets (adapters inside), 3 pieces in living room, 2 pcs at my 2 charging points - very close distance to it. Fast response, wide range derection and and full redundancy guaranteed when you incorporate with ionisation detectors.
Note : When battery level runs low, there is a beeping indication sound. Replace batt.

A house fire typically doubles in size every 30 seconds. Usually by the time a family member visually or smell detects it, it is too late to extinguish ESPECIALLY with no fire extinguisher and/or fire blanket on hand. Just evacuate.

Fire Blankets are meant for Kitchen cooking oil fires. For layman, you do not use a ABC dry powder extinguisher on it. And you definitely DO NOT put water on it including water fire extinguishers.

For ionisation, i got this. 1 for each room incld living rm and kitchen
Kiddie ionisation detectors at usd22 for 3 + usd2 shipping, ship from UK

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...&_nkw=3+x+KIDDE+LIFESAVER+ionisation&_sacat=0

If you wanna buy a woven fibreglass fire blanket from TB, get 1.5m x 1.5m ones.

PS - Forgot to metion. The RMB16.50 taobao one is photoelectric.
If you want a branded one, i believe Amazon got something for usd 12 a piece, photoelectric. Eligible for Free shipping to SG with a usd125 order.

Not sure if can ship over due to lithium 9V, you add to cart and try

Hey, i tried, it is eligible for freeship if > usd125 order.

Dual sensor one - but does not ship to SG due to ionisation's radioactive Americum

I am not sure if this was the case or was it another one - but a faulty battery charger was the cause.
Anyway, it's all pretty similar. Electrical stuff.

Two dead as fire destroys house in Yio Chu Kang

ST_20150610_FIRE10Y6Q8_1393702e_2x.jpg

He could only watch helplessly as a raging fire swallowed his house in the middle of the night, claiming the life of his mother and that of a friend.

In just two hours, all that was left of businessman Alvin Tang Hui Jen's Parry Avenue home near Yio Chu Kang Road - a two-storey semi-detached house where his four-generation family lived - were charred, skeletal walls.

Screams, crackling sounds and even explosions drew neighbours out of their homes from around 3am. Housewife Brenda Tham, 57, said a neighbour tried to climb into the burning house and pull an older man towards the gate, which failed to open.

The old man told him to save the children," she recalled. "Then there was an explosion. I'm not sure how he got out."

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and police were alerted at about 3am yesterday to the blaze, which left two dead and six others injured, including a firefighter. The SCDF arrived to find the house engulfed by flames that had shot through the roof.

It took six water jets and more than an hour to contain and put out the fire, which ravaged the property. None of the adjacent houses was badly affected.

Six occupants from the razed property managed to evacuate before SCDF's arrival, and first responders helped two other occupants - one of them an elderly man - out of the burning house.

But two bodies were later found on the second floor.

The Straits Times understands that one of them was Mr Tang's elderly mother, and the other, his business partner.

Five others - two elderly men, one child and two women - were taken conscious to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation. A firefighter was also taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for heat exhaustion.

SCDF and police are investigating the incident, including what caused the fire.

Mr Tang, who was one of the six survivors, was seen sitting quietly outside his destroyed home as SCDF and police officers worked to retrieve the bodies among the charred debris.

Mr Tang, along with friends and relatives who gathered yesterday for a ritual outside the house led by two Buddhist monks, declined to speak to reporters.

Logistics officer Joanne Lim, 60, and her husband, who live directly behind the house, tried to help put out the flames with buckets of water. "It was the biggest fire I've ever seen," she said. "I was so scared that the wall separating our homes would collapse, and the fire would reach my kitchen gas pipes and explode."

Full-time volunteer Jane Tan, 58, saw one of the family's children, a boy of about 10, standing in the street with bloodstained clothes. She said: "His elbow was bleeding. I offered to put medication on the wound."

She has opened her house to the family and their relatives so they can rest. "I couldn't watch them stand on the road all day."

Next trend of things to get in EDMW? :D

You ask Chuanz and some other EDMWers here, 2013 Air Purifier thread (deleted liao) already discussed smoke detectors, fire safety and voltage convertors 110-240V to death coz of Honeywell APs from Amazon. :s13: I think Honeywell 50250 got free ship, so did the HW 17150.

Oh btw, if get Taobao photoelectric smoke detector, the Alkaline batts get the Amazon Basics 9V Alkaline, 24 pack or something. Super cheap. Each one 3 year shelf life i think. Change each smoke detector battery every year, but i think mine is already close to 2 years and still have not beeped. (anyway, gonna change it).

AA batteries have longer shelf-life, the Amazon basics AA can do 10 years shelf-life.

http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-...xgy_121_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=08EJJMES400HNSM0C068
About the Product
•Pack of 48 1.5V AA Alkaline Batteries
•Improved anti-corrosion components and new zinc composition resulting in 10-years anti-leakage shelf life

Alkaline batts are literally all the same mAh, same ballpark one, be it Sanyo, Duracell, Energizer, Amazon basics. Those play flashlights will know. Google the discharge test at low current (mA) and see the mAH capacity youself. I not hao siao. As long as Alkaline, bagus.

Here :
8-pack for 9.49usd
http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-...d=1458193922&sr=8-1&keywords=amazon+basics+9V
About the Product
•Pack of eight 9 Volt Alkaline Batteries
•3-year shelf life so you can store for emergencies or use immediately
