Any recommendations for air purifier? Noticed some debunking the sharp ion purifier for producing ozone. First time buyer.

Forget ion air purifiers. For haze, you need purifiers with hepa filters

Note. 1445h view towards Tg Pagar port visibly degraded. Not sure if 3pm 1-hr reading would reflect or not (I believe the monitoring station is @ Fort Canning).

But 4pm should show, if the denser haze sustains.

(1) A decent PM2.5 monitor is not cheap. Mine is too cheap to give any accurate readings, hence I don't give any in this thread. I would not recommend you to spend $$ on this unless you just won Group 1. :)

(2) Yes, I am very used to getting stuff on TB/Tmall. :D
The item in the link has a H12 or HEPA-12 (ie 99.5% efficiency at 0.3 microns) filter, unfortunately it has unknown airflow spec.

That tmall link you just posted has a very very good vid, i'd just take the opportunity to type out the summary and share with the others here.

They tested 3 air purifiers in the car. Ambient air reading was 328 ug/m3, they "aired" the car cabin and closed the windows, and got a reading of 277 ug/m3. After a 20 mins drive and air purifier operation, they got readings below (42, 30 and 98 ug/m3)

TB26vPdapXXXXbrXpXXXXXXXXXX_!!2104616627.jpg

There were 2 pax in the car and an air quality scientist mentioned that during the 20 min drive, those 2 pax in a small car cabin do affect the readings. True enough, 277 ug/m3 dropped to 124 ug/m3 after a 20 min drive.

So only 2 are effective enough.

Thx for info!

Oh I know this one. It's located at the greenery patch beside Furama hotel. Just before the bus stop.

There is an update from NEA website. Source of haze is from central sumatra. Outlook is moderate based on 24hr PSI ;)

For the rest of today, the current hazy conditions are expected to persist, and the overall air quality is expected to be in the high end of the Moderate range.

Aiyoh this kind of advisory... I'm glad they at least publish the 1hr conc...

F them....

But if the haze intensity sustains 24 hours, then they cannot hide nothing also.

4.40pm here South side is crazy. I go take some pics. Update soon.

Hahahaha..Lurking my friend, lurking. Nice to be remembered though :D
Unfortunately, there's no instrument with me this time round. It's on loan to one of our customers in Pekanbaru. So..I've been following your postings instead. Keep up the good work! :)

Ok! But really no need to do spot readings with a laser particle counter (ug/m3 models, not the xxxxx particles meters) this time round, waste money also + nobody would believe non-accredited equipment.

NEA is releasing the 1-hr average PM2.5 concentrations since Apr 2014. Just use the online calculator. :D

Last year is the worst ,psi at 300 plus

Yeah, really smoke out last year.
