Cheaper source is from Taobao. Actually it'd be an upgrade, coz the quality of the Taobao filters is H11 - H12 thereabouts. Get a few pieces. Anything will do.
Stock filter in the A28 is H10. Costs SGD50 and it's not easy to find.
Have to cut it out, trim to size. Scotch tape the sides. Should not take more than 15 mins.

We had decent quality air in the morning with 10 to low 20s ug/m3 PM2.5. Showers came at about 1000hrs.
PM2.5 shot quite a bit back up on my PM2.5 monitor.
Winds S to SW.
SW 6kph @ starting from 1300h. (220 degrees)
SW is 225 degrees.
SSW is 202.5 degrees.
S is 180 degrees

Qoo10 selling $45. Didn't get as it doesn't make sense to me to spend $45 for the filter when the A28 is selling for $99 with the filter.

FIRES in South Sumatra, South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan provinces show no signs of abating, despite stepped-up efforts to contain them. The situation is made worse by tropical cyclone Phanfone hovering over the Philippine sea, and sucking in moisture over parts of Indonesia, an official said. This means weather in the lower parts of Sumatra and Kalimantan will likely continue to get drier in the coming days, worsening fires and haze.
"We forecast slightly higher pressure on Saturday there, or cyclone Phanfone growing bigger," Mr Lutfi Fitriano, a weather forecaster at the national meteorological, climatological and geophysical bureau in Jakarta, told The Straits Times.
The forest and plantation fires in South Sumatra, South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan have raged in recent days, affecting flight and shutting schools there. The northern part of Kalimantan, Central Sumatra - which includes Riau province - and North Sumatra may, however, see some light rain in the coming days.
"Riau is wet enough, therefore it is safe from fire as they have ample rain," Mr Lutfi added. Riau is the second-closest province to Singapore, after Riau Islands province. Dumai city in Riau province was the epicentre of last June's haze when Singapore and Malaysia saw record-high PSI. The total number of hot spots detected in Kalimantan was 389, and 31 in Sumatra yesterday, Singapore's National Environment Agency (NEA) said in an update on its website. But the low count in Sumatra was due to partial satellite coverage. C
entral Kalimantan governor Teras Narang said the haze thickened yesterday. He will hold a coordination meeting today with all regency heads in his province to discuss ways to step up efforts to fight the raging fires. "The haze has gotten very, very severe. Schools are closed, the number of residents with respiratory illness jumped, and flights have been affected," Mr Teras told reporters yesterday.
Water bombing operations in Central Kalimantan were partially impeded yesterday as the haze was too thick for the helicopter to operate, the provincial head of disaster mitigation agency, Mr Muchtar, told Kompas.com, the news portal owned by Indonesia's largest newspaper.
"We can barely see our neighbour's house 10 metres away," Mr Muhammad Muza, a Banjarbaru resident in South Kalimantan, told local news portal Harianterbit.com. The number of people suffering from respiratory illness in the South Sumatran capital of Palembang almost doubled to 4,839 last month, from 2,852 the previous month.
Visibility level in parts of the province fell below 500m. Indonesia's disaster mitigation agency chief Syamsul Maarif has deployed 2,200 military officers and 1,050 policemen to take part in the ground firefighting efforts. "Law enforcement must continue to be stepped up," Mr Syamsul said.

Actually I thought today was pretty ok, compared to earlier this week (Mon and Tue where it was sustained AQI low 150s). Only got 1 spike for West and South to just a wee bit Unhealthy to ALL levels, that's all.
Right now at night I can even see Batam lights, which is impossible for 95% of the time since end Aug).
Heck, most times I could barely see the ships' lights crossing in between the straits.2 more weeks to end of haze season.

Yeah for normal healthy adults today considered ok... but for little ones at home I try to keep a/p running at least 12hrs over the night these days.

Actually this morning's clearness is one of the those clear days that we often get whenever the NE monsoon is blowing and there are no hotspots in Peninsula Malaysia. The 3-hr PSI values last time during the clear days are about 10 to 20. Regular days would be 20-ish, max of 30-ish.
That is why the WHO limit is a PSI of about 50-ish, 25ug/m3. Or AQI of 78.
This year, you get to hear/read that 3-hr PSI 107 or AQI 158 or 70+ ug/m3 for 2 days or > 100 ug/m3 for 2hrs and over 200 ug/m3 transient peaks is still low, "nothing". "Don't be a weakling".
Despite that it's been going on since Aug 31st.
Perhaps it's due to a densenitizing effect with last year's PSI 401 experience (but seriously as you know that's 3-hrs PSI at 1pm, so things started to go downhill from about 9+). How many were out there from about 9am till about noon?
China has much worse quality air than us + sustained, but that is for another thread.
This morning I could even see Tg Balai/Karimun's 980m tall mountain from my house, which is some 55km away. When you look at trees/vegetation even at 3km away, you see that solid colour + contrast. Not like last time, look at 300m away already slightly washed out and worse than 3km away NOW.

Car air purifiers - not so easy a solution. Actually I feel that as long as it's not fitted with a HEPA filter, it's not going to be effective. Haze particles down down to 0.1 microns as well as slightly below that. Efficiency of the usual consumer grade HEPA, even the H13 variants, is pretty good and still can take care of 0.1 microns (I touched on it before in prev posts).
Electrostatic precipitation air purifiers (quite rare nowadays) won't be nearly as effective for haze per unit product volume coz they cannot blast the air volume very high past the plates. But they don't have to get replacement air filters.
