Power post. Can share taobao partical laser counter lobang?

Previously recommended is this one (I think some bros got this): http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.67.7Onvdl&id=43721215547&ns=1&abbucket=2#detail

Now got another seller with more compact body:
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.60.7Onvdl&id=45817036637&ns=1&abbucket=2
(but I can see that for this one if you wanna place it upright you would need to attach some "legs" on it so that there's a bigger gap for air intake)

For particle counters that comes with a fan, like those above, you can operate it in any orientation. This is different from those without fan and rely on convection/updraft for moving air through the sensor body.

Both using the Plantower sensor, which is quite accurate.

I saw the second one, cheaper than Samo Air @ 268. But seems like only decode concentration ug/m3 but not particle count.

Samo Air only decodes 0.5 and 2.5 microns particle count, reason is that they want to be easily referenced to the Dylos (also 0.5 and 2.5). I ALWWed the seller.

2 posts bef this, i searched got one 298rmb model that decides down to 0.3 microns but the seller like not interested to sell, took v long to answer.

The one from "PM检测仪专业DIY"? I got my Shinyei (same form factor) from them. No problem dealing with them, though I can't remember if I ALWW-ed them before.

Actually the Plantower G1 sensors streams out: 0.3/0.5/1.0/2.5/5.0/10 particle count and PM1.0/PM2.5/PM10 ug/m3. It's up to them if they wanna decode/display it or not.

any one using Phytoncide with the APs? does it helps?

It looks like an antimicrobial. Not much use since HEPA filters that. Esp if you also believe in things like Sharp Plasmacluster. (Sharp plasmacluster's Ozone emission is only 1/50th of the permissible O3 limit set by authorities, so that's way way below).

Usually we are not that concerned with bacteria/viruses also. Isolation and proper handwashing/sanitising with 70% v/w alcohol and 0.5% v/w chlorhexidine are major key factors, with HEPA air filtration playing a relatively small part in the whole equation. That's if you wanna prevent any infection from spreading in the household (eg HFMD, infants/kids etc)

Yes correct, I think simple buying and sending out is ok. Just that if you ALWW, maybe slow in replies if he is not free.

El Niño continues to strengthen

Issued on 21 July 2015 | Product Code IDCKGEWW00

The 2015 El Niño continues to develop. Weakened (or reversed) trade winds have resulted in further warming over much of the tropical Pacific Ocean. All key ENSO ocean monitoring areas have been more than 1 °C above average for 10 successive weeks—two weeks longer than the record in 1997. The eastern tropical Pacific is now at or exceeding +2 °C. In the atmosphere, the past week has seen the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) drop to around −20, the lowest values of the event so far.

All international climate models surveyed by the Bureau of Meteorology indicate El Niño is likely to strengthen, and is expected to persist into early 2016. El Niño events typically peak during the late austral spring or early summer, and then weaken in the new year.

El Niño often brings below average winter and spring rainfall over eastern Australia and above-average daytime temperatures over the southern half of the country during the second half of the year. However, other factors, such as temperatures to the north of Australia and in the Indian Ocean, also affect Australia's climate, meaning El Niño is not the only influence on rainfall and temperature changes. Read more about how El Niño might affect Australia.

The Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) is currently neutral. A positive IOD event remains possible, with three of the five international models suggesting a positive IOD is likely during late winter to spring. A positive IOD is typically associated with reduced winter and spring rainfall over parts of southern and central Australia.

Next update expected on 4 August 2015 | print version

U can always call them and check. Perhaps sensor got problem ?

Previously my dehumifier temperature sensor spoilt, auto shutdown, so I called them up. Their courier came to collect, after servicing courier back. Less than a week.

Need to pay for courier service, but I'm fine with that. If ownself bring down, no charge. Purifier servicing procedure not sure if same as their dehumifier, but I guess should be.

Servicing foc (within warranty). Courier service 2 way total 2x$12 = $24 (if I remember correctly) ;)

Will check, thanks :) I did manage to get it working again by using the filter change reset button but just wondering why the filter went so quickly.

I think the counter is based on the accumulation of usage (operation) time since last reset.

Perhaps u can continue and monitor. And if u didn't switch on your purifier throughout the day, just only a couple of hours at night, and if same problem still occur, most likely the counter/sensor is faulty.

Edit: I'm just guessing.

Getting some smoke here, visually, smell and also on particle counter. Not the usual hazy smell though. But it's biz as usual on NEA's data.

Maybe some localized burning + lowet temp outside causing fog(??)

Not reached SG yet. Wind dir not totally conducive but we will get the Jambi smoke if it grows.

S sumatra hasn't started yet. When that and kalimantan starts, we will have good chances of getting it despite the norm SSE or SE winds predominantly. No need SSW/SW.

See if this round picks up. Late june and early july hotspots got doused by some showers.

This vid is for 2014 situation.

Rain has brought light relief to the people of Palembang in Sumatra but the impact on the health of the most vulnerable - the children and aged - from the cloud of haze which has affected the province will be felt for years to come.
There are many mitigating factors for this disaster. One chief reason is the unforeseen effects of the weather phnenomenon called El Nino. The Indonesian government's failure to communicate effectively at a time like this the harmful effects of "slash and burn" practice, the traditional means of clearing land, is also largely to blame.
In recent weeks, the hospital has been busy treating respiratory complaints. The most heart-wrenching scenes in the ward were old and young alike struggling to breathe after exposure to the noxious fumes.
The tiny particles which some of this smoke contain can get stuck in the lungs and are coated in cancer-causing chemicals. Wood smoke is thought to be more cancer-causing than passive smoke from cigarettes.
Doctors have likened the situation to smoking 80 cigarettes a day, babies across the region have in effect been chain-smoking since the haze began to envelope vast pieces of land.
