Btw guys,

Lazy to go TB to buy, sounds so complicating. :(

Bro WRX,

I was getting ready to hoot the Samsung AX41/40 until i saw your above post and remember seeing you mention a few days back..

"I see. Its a must. If you can help it, spend a little more and get the Sharp FU-Z31 or Sharp A28 at NTUC Xtra. Much more cleaning power...."

You mean you would recommend the FU-Z31 or A28 over the Samsung AX41/40 (despite both having a lower rated flow rate)..?

Sorry for the noob question if you have responded elsewhere..

Thanks again!
Greg

IIRC that was with reference to NAP101 or something similar capacity.

A "WussRedXLi-spend-a-little-bit-more" recommendation for AX40 would be Sharp A80

For the LG LA-Q379SB, which side of the Hepa filter should face inwards? There is a black surface (should be the nano-silver coating) on one side, and the normal beige surface on the other side). I pulled it out and forgot the direction of its facing lol. There are some korean words with arrows pointing on the top of the filter but I don't understand them. There are tabs on the black surface side. Don't know if it matters.

Install it with the arrows pointing to the front (towards yourself).

Thanks Bro Chuanz!

I thot i am misinterpreting something between high airflow rates and the models' clean ability.. :)

In that case, whats the difference between getting AX40 (from online) and AX41 (from retail store), besides the obvious warranty issue?

Thanks!

Oh, thanks for the clarification. Wasted 5mm of potential filtration.
Then get the 60mm thick one and have a slight boost over the original filters by about 10%.:evil:

Ask him to give you those 0.5mm thin prefilters. He will have them cut for you to that size. Just use some nice translucent 3M scotchtape (can get from TB) and stick it to the filter.

Wah lah!

But remember, the higher the airflow, the higher the noise.

Sorry to chip in, can I ask putting one AX40 in the hall is it enough to cover a 4 room flat? or should I buy a few AX20 for each room? Thanks.

Samsung, Sharp, LG all tested to be well below limits. Eg, Sharp is 50X below the limit permitted.

Enough if your expectations is not that high and is solely to lower down PM2.5 levels to a more manageable level.

Get some fans to circulate the air round. Or just switch on the room aircons and leave the doors open. Hall can don't on aircon. There will be some natural ventilation.

Slow, but keep the doors/windows tightly sharp. After 1 hour it should be quite manageable for external < PSI 200 haze.

Thanks for the reply. I intend to turn it on for 24hrs beside for the haze issue. Don't think I will be closing all the windows. Need to have some fresh air from outside.

not much fresh air now...:(

oh well... I turned on the Sharp AP the fan speed to max... since the others want to open windows big now... :s22::(

while another said no need AP in the room...cant do much... guess they will be enjoying the "natural fresh air" now

If you intend to keep any window opened, it would be quite ineffective. Very much a waste of the money. I have done the measurements with laser particle counters.

For me, during these long duration haze periods, I filter the whole house with 6 APs. I air the whole house once every 12 hours by opening the wndows for about 1 minute. (high floor here, so quite a lot of wind) More than sufficient and is a good compromise. If not, every 6hrs do a complete air change.

Even in still air with 1 single opened window, the fine particulate matter has a way in finding its way into the house.
Something like via diffusion principle or something.

Some mistake that still air/no wind = safe. You'd be surprised how high the concentration still can be (wrt external concentration) with 1 x AP in the living room but with just a small 4 inch gap opened for "ventilation".
IIRC, once I tried this......1 small gap only of a few inches. The internal concentration was nearly 50% of external. Unless you have a big ass AP that can do > 10 ACH and clean the air via brute force.

Does not work that way.

If you have a particle counter, you can see this, it's quite interesting.
