But i guess pple not biting coz last yr 499 (but no filter).

Can get from GAB is much much cheaper than departmental store.

Is v good....but overpriced. Would rather get IQAir if you want it to be branded and have a proven workhorse. Or get 3 pieces of NAP611 from GAB and enjoy a buffet dinner for 2 with the remaining 99 dollars.

Airflow is 7m^3 per min or 420m^3 per hr. That's about the Hitachi 7000 league.

NAP611 is 500 bucks at GAB or 599 at regular stores. 360m^3 in high speed and 600m^3 in Turbo. Slightly less bells and whistles vs the Coway but seriously all are H13/HEPA 13, that's the main interest here for us.

NAP611 looks pretty good, just not sure how it'd work over the years. But it has a DB Brushless motor, same as the Sharps.

Also extremely efficient in power consumption, it takes only 15W and pushes 360m^3/h of clean air. Versus say a Honeywell 50250 + using a voltage conversion transformer so additional slight efficiency loss there, we are talking about like nearly 200W overall power consumption. That difference is at least $150 per year additional in electrical cost or $750 in electrical cost over 5 years! ** assuming 12hrs of usage


So, though the Novita air purifiers are not exactly branded and untested, one can't say that they are bad. My sis is still using the Novita humidifier (those piezoelectric ultrasonic atomisers) that gives out mist that I purchased some 10 years ago. The piece of MIC bugger is still working surprisingly.

Yep...they are selling at 100 bucks less with G, incld the FOC replacement filter. NAise....like last year's price (not sure last year is with replacement filter or not). Self collect though, no delivery which is provided FOC at Robinsons. But BD and HN die die no free delivery, it's an option at $30.

Not sure about the NAP501 price as they cannot give a figure, but I guess won't be much cheaper than $279 at Centrepoint Robinsons during the "7% GST cashback" or $269 during the 10% recent sale a few days ago. That's inclusive of the Speedpost delivery. Of coz, 501 need to pre-order.

You can get a transformer at Amazon to take advantage of the free shipping that comes with the air purifier.

I got a Power Bright 500w transformer at about US$31 a few months back.

NP101 is not that worth it vs the NAP501.

For one, NP101 is 95% @ 0.3 microns, ie H11/HEPA 11. Not that it makes a heck lot of difference in the real world. Take 2 identical air purifiers, one equipped with H13 and the other H11. What this means is that the clean air delivery rate of the one with H11 is 95% of the H13.

ie 100 CFM. Clean Air delivery rate of H13 is 99.97 CFM. Clean air delivery rate of H11 is 95CFM. Because both are HEPA, both cleans even at 0.1 microns very efficiently. Some like the Sharp non-humidifying models are H10, ie 85% @ 0.3 microns.

Now, those 95-99% HEPA-type purifiers @ 2.0 or 3.0 microns are a totally different story.

HEPA does not means that the PP/Polypropylene fibres have a "pore size" of 0.3 microns. HEPA does not work in such a way, ie a physical sieve.

I actually wanted to get the 101 but decided to pay a bit more, even though this 501 that I got probably won't be used a lot. But 101 looks quite a fair bit worse,

The 501 has a -ve, the front LED that shows you how's the air quality is very bright in a darkened room. It's next to impossible to sleep with this. So gotta cut out a small piece of white cardboard and paste it there to block.
There's actually a light sensor that detects ambient light levels and the Auto fan mode is programmed such that this LED would switch off in a darkened room. But then it's Auto fan, ie when air quality is good, the fan speed would be in LOW speed. I don't want that, I want it to be either in medium or high speed. The NAP501 is very quiet, it's quite noticeably more quiet than my Sharp KC-840 when blowing out the same volume of air. Sleeping in High fan speed is absolutely not an issue even for light sleepers.

Seriously it's just 229 for the NAP101 and 299 for the NAP501. Both have FOC filters. 71 bucks diff nia and a whole world of difference in looks and UI. If they price the NAP101 at 159 then it's a different story ba.

One more thing, the NAP101 flows 195m3 per hr. NAP501 is 250m3 per hr in turbo mode. The recommended room size a bit hao siao one, coz both can recommend to use in 25m^2 rooms.

Another thing is that the filter in the 101 is only recommended for 3000hrs. The 501 is 6000hrs. Don't take the figures as an absolute though, but relatively speaking that means take for eg the Height and Width of both filters to be the same.....that means the filter in the 101 is just 0.5 inches and the one in 501 is 1 inch thick. (both have the same number of mini pleats)

Not that it means anything to me of coz, as in the future i'd just get a usd24 1.2 inch thick HEPA-13 filter from Amazon and cut it into size and stick the sides to prevent bypass. 3X cheaper.

You mean the most filtering capability? Based on pure specs the NAP611 with a flowrate of 600m3 per hr. But I am a bit sceptical of the specs.
Still, the price at GAB is great. $500 with a free filter, can't beat that.

Get 2 of this just for 1k and you can even clean the living room of a bungalow.

Definitely....much quieter in fact. You can check out the dB figures. It's already slightly quieter than my Sharp KC-840. Both NAP 501 and KC-840 or KC-A40 are in the same league.

Honeywell got some quiet models, like the Quietcare series (if get from sites like Amazon).

No use one, don't buy.

You might as well get the 3M filter and secure it to the back of your fan. Works better and also verified with a laser air particle counter.

Today is v slightly hazy again. PSI 70. Looks like somewhere out there, fires still continuing to burn despite so many thunderstorms around the region.

I got both my Honeywell air purifier (the smaller model 50150N, I think) and the 500W transformer, all on free shipping! The shipping was supposed to cost about US$170, which is more than the cost of the 2 products!
