Info : this year's haze season is over. At the very most is 1 more time like Saturday nia, but low risk,

What you are buying is really for next year, start from Feb/March (Peninsula Malaysia haze). Even then is pretty low risk.

that good to hear... will be keeping the air purifier till this Sat...

Wah...Malaysia ones next yr... so we have both to suffer from Indonesia and Malaysia ones?

Was told in case of any fire, this type of illegal items will deem the insurance invalid

tia gong technically any non-PSB approved electrical items will void. This include those cheong China iPhone/Android USB chargers, US imported "worldwide voltage" electronics item, etc.

If you are referring to a non-HEPA a/p, it may not be a good idea coz the fan/blower may not have sufficient suction to pull air through HEPA. You'd end up with low airflow and loud noise.

If you are referring to changing the grade of HEPA then it's a matter of finding one that matches the size (height, width and depth). If don't have exact then buy the closest bigger filter and DIY lor... But need to pad the sides with foam to minimize air bypass.

I think my air purifier is the lowest HEPA spec. Something like trapping only 80% or something.
Therefore, considering to get something that bumps the number up to the 95% range.

Which air purifier do you have now?

Hi,
I got the sharp A28 air purifier from qoo10 promotion.

A28E no issue... After 30mins @ max practically no diff. No need to purposely "upgrade" until when need to change filter media.

You can get H13 (99.95%) or H12 (95%) filters here

H13

Taobao is currently facing a heck load of issues with 4PX forwarding through SZ due to (1) 2000kg counterfeit USD discovered on 23 Sep (2) customs clearance issues due to IS system screwup). Lequguo and PRouter have via Shanghai have their screw-ups in their own right too. You will get your goods 99.99% of the time, of course.

This is H13 and free ship on Amazon. If you do buy from Amazon, then great, no hassle and no brainer, just tag on.

Dimensions is 280mm by 330mm by 23mm.

You'd need to DIY a bit by cutting. It's v easy. Pad the sides with foam/scotchtape. I don't even use foam, just stuff in some tissue paper to plug up any lobangs.

3M Filterete, it's the same FAP-01/02/03 replacement filter that you see selling @ Selffix, NTUC Xtra. This is the 3M MPR2100 Elite Allergen filter.

didnt know. thought all from Indonesia ones=:p

March 2014.

If this scale happens now, I would like to see the folks in the other thread saying "You scared of haze ah.....ahahahaha".

Coz 50k Indonesians in Riau had to seek treatment in hospitals. Whole body rashes etc.

Year 2014 haze is actually worse than Yeah 2013 haze if talking about the overall picture....just not that intense and our March episode was still during NE monsoon winds . (Our 1-hr peak for this year is PSI 178 or AQI 190)

I skimmed through 1st page till 60+ and decided to get myself a normal Air purifier (Was tempted to get Samsung AX40, but I guess a smaller and cheap one will work as well).

Anyway, I made this post just to share that in Qoo10, I found FU A28 selling at $99/- (By Audio House I think, from reading the comments). I shall not post the direct link. :s12:

*Edit: I tried to use some coupon earlier but received this msg "* Items on [Promotion/Qdiscount/Time sale/Group Buy] are disable to apply Cart coupon."

So I think cant apply any discount :(

All adapters will void fire insurance if it does not have the safety mark, if the source of the fire is found to have started from that device.

The Samsung AX40 will void the fire insurance if it started from there first as it's a 220V 60Hz appliance. So will the 110V Honeywells + transformers from Amazon etc. So will your China power adapters on 220V charging power banks, in case the adapter burns or the power bank Li-Co cells vents and burns.

Higher risk items include those 24/7 aquarium pumps from China, Jiebao etc etc. Happened before.

That said, I have about 15 smoke detectors so no problem there.
Operation wise, I think the Samsung AX40 can be said to be safe. Whacked it many times for 24-48hours 1 continuous shot in High speed.
Not only me...others also.

The Amazon Honeywell/Winix + transformer issue has been discussed before for quite long in the 2013 Air Purifier thread. :D

I originally had 8 detectors only, then this year before CNY my neighbour's unit 2 units away really kena fire. And stuff on taobao is cheap, so bought more.
No worries, the detectors work and have test button/test light in operation, I tested 4X with real smoke and they are sensitive enough.

9V batteries (Energizer Industrial Alkaline batteries) I bought from Amazon. 19 dollars for 12 pieces. Still got juice after 1 year plus.
Compare with 5 dollars plus for local retail. WTF?
