I headed to Malaysia on the 15th. SG was visibly clear but once I crossed the causeway, JB seems to be smokey. It was cleared after a few hours. Think the heavy rain yesterday (16th) helps too.

Its mostly the wind direction.

Its blowing N andvalso NE now...but variable direction at times. Thats why it is still not good zone yet.

Palembang rained on 14th and 16th.

Light thunderstorm on 14th and heavier thunderstorm on 16th. 30 mins worth.

Still need at least 5 more storms and without much sun in between. Then let NE monsoon take over to really douse the exposed peatlands (the covered peatlands with forest canpoies are wet all year round).

2014-10-17-NEA-E-Government-Award.jpg

The National Environment Agency (NEA) of Singapore has won the E-Government Award at this year’s FutureGov Awards for its rapid implementation of a haze monitoring and public information portal during the haze crisis.

When Singapore was badly hit by the haze last June, the NEA website attracted as many as 5 million visitors in a day.

To ensure that accurate and timely information is easily accessible by the public, the agency launched a haze microsite within 72 hours and delivered frequent updates through multiple channels, including RSS, TV feeds, a call centre system, an mobile app and social media.

Besides rapid implementation of the haze microsite, NEA also enhanced its corporate website within 48 hours to meet the high hit rates of over 120,000 per minute, and 90,000 visitors per minute. This enabled citizens to access information without experiencing any slowness or downtimes.

Through both the microsite and corporate website, NEA provided updates on an hourly basis round the clock, seven days a week. Before the haze crisis, citizens only received updates three times a day.

The monthly number of unique visitors to its corporate website and microsite reached 4.2 million users and 150,000 users respectively during that period.

The agency’s mobile app, myENV, proved to be very popular during the crisis with citizens too. The number of total downloads increased four times from 100,000 to 450,000.

NEA also increased engagement with the public through its social media channels - NEA Twitter (@NEAsg) and NEA Facebook.

still have quite abit from last yr supplies =:p see how first...supplies should be able to last...prepare for next ones which is next yr...:s22:

They can easily last 8 years for haze use. Just don't use it for protection against diseases.

Even with degradation, you'd just need 70% efficiency and it'd still give you food protection, ie 200 ug/m3 becomes 60 ug/m3 which is decent. On 6 Oct we got 131 ug/m3 peak and other times it varied around 100 ug/m3.

The fitting should still be ok, the rubber band should still give you a decent tension.

Last year 2013's PSI 401 I was using 3M 9210s that I bought in 2007 to 2008. Used them on the road, ok.

24-hr PM2.5 and PSI figures (PSI = PM10, not the same as PM2.5 and bears little relationship between the 2)

USeful also if you are heading to Taiwan, HK, esp Northeast China for holiday during winter.

I kena once before while in Beijing (during winter, so it's not a dust storm). Visibility dropped to about 300m and it actually got scary. And trust me, there is not much smell unlike like haze.

Now, 17 oct 2200h

wacky

Free???? :eek::eek::eek:

BTW, if it's 3M, it's best to check the batch number against the utility link found on 3M's facebook. They have something to check authenticity + expiry. Taobao got a lot, but 3M better avoid. UVEX is ok.
