PM10 of 660 ug/m3. AQI 500 = 604 ug/m3 PM10, maxed out.

Our PSI 401 was 500 ug/m3 recorded with PM10

Mae Hong Son is getting smoked this morning again .
Some of you may have visited that place when visiting NE Thailand.

Station 58t
Office of Natural Resources and Environment, Mae Hong Son.

2015-03-14 10:00:00 564 ug/m3 (PM10)

No PM2.5 measurements, but I can confidently guess that it's in the 500ug/m3 (PM2.5) region from 36t's Chiang Mai reference. That'd mean AQI hitting 500.

This is a pretty hazardous figure, PM2.5 is significantly more dangerous than PM10 at the same concentration.

Chiang Mai 36t

2015-03-14 06:00:00 120.86 (PM10) 110.79 (PM2.5)

2015-03-14 07:00:00 136.91 (PM10) 131.27 (PM2.5)

2015-03-14 08:00:00 165.31 (PM10) 147.65 (PM2.5)

特制 360*340*45MM 140元片
hepa

LG LA-Q379SB size is 360 x 340 x 32mm size. Bu take out the activated charcoal filter can squeeze in till about 45mm.

Better to upsize the depth, coz though the filter is between H11 and H12 efficiency, the air resistance is higher than OEM.

Anyone using it can check with u? What is the icon showing a round circle of spots and cube of spots separated by a" /"?

It says press and hold 3 seconds also. What does the press and hold 3 secs do?

NE Thailand seen from an airplane. Taken by an expat flying from Chiang Mai to BKK.

Those are not clouds or mist/fog. There are no clouds over Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar. Damn dry. Only further south some 15 mins before BKK landing did he manage to see land.

Read in previous Air Purifier threads that APs and HEPA are somewhat useless because HEPA does not filter below 0.3 microns. Colleagues also say so during kopi talk.

But seriously, no point showing the videos or below test results. They will say China is full of fakes, just pay money. (though I am not saying that they don't fake papers, they do fake the 发票 or tax invoices)

Mentioned before that is not true, HEPA does not work this way. 0.3 microns is MPPS or the PM size having the worst case performance figure, it does work below that.

Mentioned earlier that the very slight haze in SG was from Laos, VN, Thailand, Cambodia. Seems like I was correct.

Environmental News Archive: Singapore not spared from Thailand's worst haze in 14 years

As thick smoke from forest fires and slash-and-burn farming cloaks Thailand in its worst haze in 14 years. Singapore, too, has not been spared.

The Republic experienced a slightly hazy start to the week, with the overall PSI just falling out of the "good" range.

At 7pm yesterday, the PSI reading went into the "moderate" range for a reading of 52 — the highest level in March.

New mask developed by ST Engineering. Get at selected Watsons. Pictures taken at Taka Watsons.

Useful for pregnany women, kids and elderly who need a less resistance solution.

29.90 for micro ventilator (active fan unit that is rechargeable via micro USB) + 1 set of valved N95s (3pcs). Active fan unit is 2-years, limited by the rechargeable battery i guess. N95 standard 5 years approx (for haze probably can push a wee bit more).

S, M and L size 3pc per pack of valved N95s @ $7.20 each pack.

SINGAPORE is lending two helicopters to Thailand to help combat the haze blanketing the north of the country. The two Chinook helicopters, which are currently in Thailand for the multilateral Cope Tiger exercise, will be deployed to douse the forest fires from Wednesday afternoon, said Thai junta spokesman Winthai Suvaree.
*
Singapore Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen, in a post on his Facebook account on Wednesday, said the helicopters will be equipped with a 5,000-litre water bucket from the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
*
"Let's support our SAF men and women who are tasked for this mission - that they will do their job well and keep safe," he wrote, referring to the Singapore Armed Forces.
*
The choking smog is an annual problem in this region from January to April as farmers burn the land to clear scrub or agricultural waste.
Apart from creating health problems, it also turns away tourists. Some flights have been cancelled because planes have been unable to land in selected airports.
*
Air pollution was still acute as at 11am on Wednesday. The 24-hour moving average reading of small particulate matter in the air, or PM10, was up to 226mg per cu m in Chiang Mai province.
*
The acceptable standard in Thailand is 120mg per cu m.

Still a wee bit hazy here in Singapore. If i may hazard a guess, source is Myanmar.
PM2.5 is 50ug/m3, PM10 is low .

Chiang Rai recorded a national record of 386 ug/m3 PM10 for 24-hr mean. PM2.5 mean should be low 300 ug/m3 range. This is AQI 400+.
