Hello, any ideas which retail stores sell laser particle counters? Prefer not to wait for amazon/taobao to ship. Thanks!

hi all, am planning to get the AX40 from qoo10. Since we on the topic on air purifier, im just wondering if AX40 is also effective in filtering dust ? dont wan a white elephant during non - haze period lol

Any air purifier would be able to handle dust. "Dust" particles, in the general sense, is much bigger than haze particles.
But don't open windows and doors big big and expect no dust...

Hey, new findng for the Samsung AX40.
(1) The filter depth is 40mm.
So the Taobao customised HEPA of 45mm ain't that deep anyway. Coz the PP media that TB uses is quite a bit more restrictive than the good stuff that original manufacturers like Sharp/LG/Samsung use. Despite being only about 97% efficient @ 0.3microns vs 99.9+ @ 0.3 microns measured for the Samsung with my laser particle counter.

I need to spec the Taobao filter to 60mm in order to increase 10% airflow above the 40mm Samsung HEPA filter. 45mm Taobao HEPA would still be a wee bit below in airflow compared to the 40mm Samsung HEPA.

Of course, all these are masturbation specs. It doesn't really matter much in real life. The Samsung AX40 easily does 10-15 ACH in the bedrooms depending on whether yours is new BTO or old resale (factored in furnitures liao).

For those who have been using the AX40 for quite a while, eg since 2014 haze season, you might wanna use a sharp knife to separate the Activated Charcoal filter from the HEPA.

Before separation measurement. 15.42kph.
After separation measurement. 16.41kph

Increase in airflow = 6.4%.

That's an increase of 20.7 m3/hr, or say 323m3/hr -> 343 m3/hr. :)
Don't worry, the GAC already would have lost its effectiveness in about 3 months of usage.

Cut along the black masking tape with a pen knife. Do not rip out the PU foam as that's the HEPA seal.

BYByXzH.jpg

so remove the GAC , increase airflow, buy own GAC and place it somewhere in the room?

eh... help T_T few days ago I ordered AX20 from Daiso and immediately wanted to change to AX40 instead (brain wasn't thinking in the morning), but Seller already shipped out my order :( I got it at $219 + shipping $234 total. now I'm waiting for another time sale to order AX40 again.

should I just keep AX20 or sell? anyone want an AX20? I saw reviewers on the Qoo10 page thinking about getting a smaller model. I don't have any air purifier at all so I wanted AX40 just as a main... I've done enough research in this thread to know that the AX20 can't clean a 5R living room enough, right?

will the haze be prolonged? if it ends soon then I won't bother with re-ordering the AX40. my whole family isn't that affected by it, no allergies, cough, asthma etc. and no old people/kids. but if it's gonna get worse then I will get one after selling the AX20~
