Anyone own the sharp KC930E? Any feedback?

I am think to grab 2

It's basically the same as the FU-Z31 and FU-Y30. Just has the humidifier.

Not sure if you'd need the humidifying function in an aircon room.

Together with the 31 and 30, it has a E10/H10 or "HEPA 10" filter. 85% efficiency. Not a big issue, it still works for haze. Just that....you are paying 250 or so for that while you can get a Samsung AX40 proven machine that is much more silent, more energy efficient and flows like double the CADR. Or like 2 x stock KC-930 = 1 x AX40

It has 180 m3/hr airflow (minue 15% to that due to filter @ 85%), consumption close to 50W.

If can get a unit or two for cheap as mint second hand, no issue. Seen the FU-Z31 going for as low as $50-75. Then deck it out with 97% efficient Taobao china HEPA.

It not super noisy, but definitely not anywhere close to silent, not for the airflow and filter.

I used to have the FU-Z31 before.

Just received my Samsung AX40! Ordered mon, received today glad that Daiso sent out so quickly since EMS only takes 2 days to reach. Thanks for the rec :s13:

Quickly flipped thru the manual and its all set up. A bit louder than I expected on High, I will position further away from the bed since this has more power than my old AP.

Had to get my dad to help unbox and bring it to my room for me, bloody back injury

Slight differences in airflow. Note the airflow m3/hr spec, wattage and dB. Not the coverage area, which i most examples mean different across various countries.

I will ask him do up a page for the Samsung AX40 ba.
310 x 281mm x 45mm. 白色 HEPA.

But you all own risk hor, cannot put Activated charcoal layer.

I'm wondering can i stack 2 HEPA together instead?

Cause my HEPA width is 25mm so either I just accept and use 25mm as is or stack 2 together to make it 50mm.

Can or not?

yes since this is to be my main AP so might as well get extra filter now. I am a bit lazy to use AP outside of haze period but I do need one for my sinus/eczema/etc issues

Then you double the hPa, double the pressure drop. Airflow drops like no tomorrow.

Not sure what you mean, my bed is against the wall so I can only position it to blow towards the bed?

Put it at the ebnd where your feet is, instead of your head wnd. Slightly better. Airflow direction not much of an issue.

I always advocate self-DIY of FCU cleaning, with cleaning foam and oral irrigator. Been doing > 50 X already, for parents and my place FCUs. Keep it clean, max efficiency.

Clean FCU, 3M Filtrete covering about 60% only slows down approx. 15% airflow. 14kph -> 12kph. I measured with an anemometer.
This is my raw data for my Panasonic 9000 btu/h, max fan speed.

Air cleaning "power". 10 min timestamp, 20 mins timestamp.
But note, starting is a "low" 27 ug/m3.

With 100 ug/m3 external, there would be an additional "load", even if one has closed the windows and doors tightly. It will not decrease at such a rate, and end point may not reach 3-4 ug/m3.

Hi Wuss,

Abit out from AP discussion, but i see the 3M filtrete paper, you put it on top of the aircon filter?

Got any difference between putting on top or below the aircon filters?

Baomi is so much higher end than Clean Air model AP-777.

Baomi = 270 m3/hr. But quite noisy also.....watched a youtube video on it. Think 3 metres away in a room was 57 dB. But official specs is stated as 52dB. 45W.
豹米 is for geeks, it has a built in true laser particle counter module to get you that ug/m3 reading. It's not a IR LED diode cum photodetector.

Clean Air AP-777 is not quiet also. Highest level is confirm cannot sleep one.
Medium level is quite low airflow, but not overly so. Is ok, sleepable for the general folks.

is the true laser particle counter module useful? worth to get baomi?

Yes, I believe can spec to 45mm for yours. But you go and measure your cavity properly, see if 45mm will have blockage for your prefilter cover. Shd be ok. But check the sides in detail, coz the prefilter has curves that goes in.

If scared block, then spec like 5mm less width to avoid the curve. Think a little about this, you'll get my concept.

Original is just 31mm. Boost to 45mm for TB is good (TB HEPA media is more restrictive), probably end up same airflow (haven't measured in detail).

KCA40E is pre-filter cover> carbon filter> HEPA filter
so when u say spec to 45mm, we have to take out the carbon filter?

I don't really understand how does customizing a thicker HEPA filter do to airflow or what are the benefits of doing that. Care to explain more? Thanks!

For those with KCA40E model and looking for replacement filters urgently, I called Sharp this morning and they have about 10 pieces of HEPA filters left at the Alexandra service centre

I also ordered (2 days ago) AX40 from Daiso. Hope to receive it soon! I read that the power cord is US type? so we need to use a converter?
