I thought carbon filter is to filter smell?

Maybe some ppl are sensitive to the smell of the activated carbon itself... especially if they are using the AP to blow air directly at them. I can smell something if I put my face at the outlet, but used normally at a distance at one side of the room, don't smell anything really.

Hepa Filter on Window

Bro Wuss and all bros/sis here, just seeking an opinion. Im thinking of putting the TB filter on the window without the use of any fans.

As my living room has those small windows facing the corridor, was thinking of doing it to allow air to come in at night and at the same time do a little bit of filtering. Do you think it will be effective? Pic of living room window as below:

I'm no expert but a layman's guess is that it probably won't work for normal breeze... there may not be enough airflow to overcome the static pressure (resistance) of a normal HEPA filter. The wind will just look for the path of least resistance and maybe not blow in at all? your living room might just become stuffy?

Simply analogy is you wearing a N95 mask, and it takes effort to breathe in/out through the filter, because the filter offers resistance. If someone blows in your direction, the air will most likely pass you instead of going through the mask.

Nornally, in fact, all the time, I keep the windows closed as dont want the insects and lizards to come in via the corridor.

So, was thinking if opened, even with HEPA, and even with low in flow, may still be better compared to having it cloed entirely?

for me, haze or no haze, windows are closed at night.

But prior to this haze episodes, toilets louvre windows are always there to provide air exchange.

But with this haze episode, i have sealed off even the toilet louvre windows.

So, now with the haze at its tail end, thinking of options rather then 100% sealing off.

Thanks for your comments. I welcome more views :)

ideally, that's the case, but looking at minimizing works required and running expenses. :s12:

may look at this monster purportedly able to spit out 750m3/hr.

Can only put those electrostatic filters, but the 3M first pass efficiency is just 30%

2.09kg shipment weight for MFresh M8088A replacement filter.

I just weighed the actual filter, it is 1117 grams. With box and packing, probably 1.7kg? So I guess 2.09kg is reasonable. Will weigh the whole thingie when it arrives.

So take it as RMB50 for consolidated shipping with your TB order.

RMB 199 + 50 = RMB 250.

Total price after adding 2.5% CC and 3% forex = SGD 58.5.

Not say cheap, but well it's ok considering it's size. It'll go a long way for a regular HDB 4-5 room in terms of PM hold capacity without affecting airflow.

Lets see when it'll smell though. :D

They even have a APIAC (Air Purifier Industry Alliance of China) to make sure the APs there give the correct and verified performance specs.
