Lol SE846 is for wannabes.... so is the K3003.... WHO THE HELL WOULD PAY 1+K for universals -.- Too much money to spend.... But seriously they still fall under luxury.

Luxury to individual is different. Peasant like moi feel 1K + audio stuff is a luxury but to a wealthy person, it's nothing....................

Ciem is just letting you have a good seal. Doesn't mean universals shouldn't cost as much as ciem. There's no guarantee a 1k ciem will always sound better than a 1k universal. Sound is subjective after all. Besides, ciem usually has no demo. You are buying blind just basing on reviews. There's a chance you bang wall. Or maybe suck thumb cos spend so much bang already no turning back unless lugi more money to take another gamble. Resale value also takes a hit. You know, besides the better seal part, the rest are just potential downsides you have to risk paying 1k+ for. Better seal doesn't equate to better sound quality in the first place. So paying 1k for a universal isn't as wannabe as you thought.

Okay sorry if you misunderstood my punch line at 1k+ CIEM. I meant it as a joke. But jokes aside, I would still pay for a CIEM than a Universal as I have the ability to do whatever I want with the outlook and one thing for certain it would always be mine and mine only. LOL sounds selfish but I dont really care.

Different people, different level of tolerance, appreciation.. be happy with what we have.. dont be bitter of what other people have, or like.

having a little bit of luxury is fine, again, different people, different strokes. I think it is not about wealth, it is about passion.. how much one is willing to fork out on what we want and willing to sacrifice on other stuff that is not so important.. priorities..

As I mention on the AK100 thread... AK120 quite nice..better base.. more energy.. extended highs, more exciting sound and wider soundstage.. works better with iems.. running in now. Overall it is more exciting to listen to.. promising..

AK120 now running in non stop for almost 24 hours now.. I think I will leave it on, in a loop for 48-72 hours .. see how the sound

How do they measure against each other technically?
ie. dynamics, Prat, soundstage, bass (width & depth), etc.

How close is the gap between them (if any)?
this one is personal. more a feel, your personal mileage.

How different is the sound signature between them?
is the sound neutral, warm, dry, musical, clinical, etc.

He must be thinking "Nah bey, if AK120 can sell for S$1,599, there's no reason y my HM-901 can't sell for US$2,000. Sure got people buy one!"

Then again, consider this. What makes an iem more important than the source that a pair of ciem can cost 1.5k and up and nobody's complaining, but everyone says a 1.5k dap is madness? Too used to cheap <1k sources already? Or ciem prices are also rip-off in the first place?

Anyone one saw the audio shop at Far East SC? Its at one corner of level 5, close to where Qisahn is located. I saw the AK100 on sale there but they were closed when i went. They had tables and chairs around so it seems they do let people audition.

Wonder how much they sell...
