I am in alaska right now. Bring longer zoom lens if u wanna stick with 280mm get a teleconverter. Most times the wildlife wont be close up unless they willingly approach u or u are hiking. I brought a 300mm and still cant get that close up.

I brought my 12-24mm, 50mm, 70-200mm plus 2x teleconverter that is used with the 70-200mm... For wildlife photos were taken using 70-200mm with & without the teleconverter during the cruise and in Denali...

Tommy, just noticed that the balcony on the Diamond Princess is larger than that of Island Princess. I seen the deck plan and its 3 times that of Island Princess

There's a 64sqm balcony option but its Premium Balcony :(

Hi ceecookie,

We stayed on the Caribe floor level, and the balconies are bigger for that level - it is half covered and half exposed. Those on the other floors have smaller balconies. Prices are not much different though.

If given a choice agin, we will still go for the caribe deck! :)

We have written a review on that previously on our blog. :s13:

Day 1 Diamond Princess Alaska Cruise - Oceanview Double with Balcony at Caribe Deck - Singapore Travel Blog - Discover . Book . Travel

And yeah.. Diamond princess is a bigger ship as compared to Island princess.
