Does anyone know if alipay payment limit is shared across accounts if I link the same credit card?

Account A: real name verified supposedly with annual limit of 50k usd
Account B: not verified with limit of 15k RMB

In this case will account A retain the 50k USD limit or will it be affected by account B

I can use Alipay to scan and pay, linked to my Youtrip Card, the payment is simple, key in the payment amount and password, the money will deduct on my Youtrip Card. But for other type of payment that shop scanner scan my Alipay payment QR code, I need to authorise payment via Youtrp App.
My Alipay Account is verified, Singapore telephone number and Passport.

As the Alipay Account is verified with the Singapore telephone number and Passport, any idea what will happen when we renew our passport?

Also, will I be able to use this Alipay Account to pay for things (eg MRT, Bus) in Hong Kong ?

I just had a new passport, and there isn't a menu bar for updating of new passport function.

Went to FAQ and typed updating new passport and it pop up a link to upload new passport and in less than 5 mins a notice came in and stated updated successfully.

Not sure whether it will work currently as no plan to travel yet but should work.

I remember I can reverify the account by uploading the new passport.
I got no chance to use Alipay in HK, one thing sure is I am unable to use Alipay in SG ( only Alipay for Chinese citizen linked to their China Bank account can be used in SG. Same as wechatpay).

Just update your passport details in-app when prompted/look for the option to update.
No, HK has a seperate Alipay that is not accepted. Alipay is restricted by region, Tried in HK, and not scannable/usable, similar to usage in SG.

You are correct that the Octopus card is easier to use. Since I'm not an iPhone user, have to get the physical card, which I'm trying to avoid. Trying my luck to find an epayment alternative to travel on HK Airport Express, Light Rail and MTR Bus.

Starting from December 23 passengers can use Visa’s Contactless Bank Cards (Credit Card or Debit Card) to enter and exit gates for MTR rides* (*Excluding Airport Express, Light Rail and MTR Bus).

A big thanks to everyone for the information sharing though.

Dummy guide to use Alipay.

Download the app.

Fill in your details. Need your passport details and a copy of it (use HP take picture of passport).

I gave $20 to a colleague who is PRC and she transferred yuan into my Alipay account. Later gave her another $200 to do the same.

No need to use credit card.

Could use my Alipay in China easily during my recent trip there.

But for more expensive items like entrance fees for tourist sites, I paid with cash there.

Don't link to credit card even better right?

Just ask a PRC here to transfer yuan to your Alipay account.

Agree, why trouble and rely on others when the setup is a once off inconvenience.

Some small roadside merchants don't accept Alipay linked to CC.

I bought strawberries from a roadside cart and I can't pay using Alipay linked to CC. I could pay using the (cash) balance in my Alipay wallet

Also there's a 3% surcharge for payments over RMB200.

I might be lucky, have not encounter any which dun accept Alipay with cc. I even paid a bottle of mineral water with Alipay. End of the day, there is cash option. Most of the times I dun spend >200rmb... a few >200rmb, I am fine with the 3% for sake of ease and convenience.

I am someone if I can solve it or do it by myself, I dun like to bother others.... in this case, "hello, can help top up $$$".

Anyway, up to individual.... I support linking cc :D

Some must be really lucky to face all these anomalies. 🤭
Of course always have some cash as backup if all else fails, but wise to setup then deal with the issues when it comes instead of relying on others unnecessarily.
Thus, completely agreeing w you to be self reliant.
